Wow. Matt Bonner is Pop's Michael Finely. He'll continue to suck his balls while giving him way too many minutes.
The Spurs are done....
no way is this true

wow.with Bonner getting alot of minutes we have no chance.
what the ????
get rid of that red piece of . how hard is that??? nobody is gonna miss him. dammit!!!!
I'm sorry I am so mean but ! it's time to turn the page!
real talk
lol you were freaking out when RJ opt-ed out. IMO this is pretty bad too. Bonner eating up 3million+ in cap space and here for 4 more years with the potential of him barely playing. ing waste.
I don't disagree with the premise, I've stated as much -- the Spurs aren't likely to find a better player for that role.
But it's not that some of us begrudge him getting paid, it's what that inevitable means: significant playing time.
I wasn't against him coming back at a reduced rate and role behind Duncan, Splitter, Blair and 'Dyess, but some were convinced he'd never be behind all of them regardless of what he was getting paid. I figured the Spurs would be fine.
But to give him a raise and long-term contract?
There's no doubt the Spurs view him as a necessary and real component to their team and its success.
That's why the baby seals and unicorns find themselves seeking shelter . . .
People acting like it's armageddon. This likely has no impact on negotiations with their #1 free agent target. He fits a role on the team (PF that shoots over 40% from 3) that isn't easily duplicated, especially for what the Spurs had available to spend.
I don't like his playoff non-performances anymore than the rest of you, but what guarantee do we have that the replacement player is better? This re-signing was inevitable.
In a way, I'm glad that Finley requested to be traded. I don't want to imagine the extension they would have offered him this summer.
This fetish Pop has for some players is just beyond reasonable.
This.
Pretty bad when your handing $15 million to a guy who everybody hopes won't even be on the floor.
No man, the problem is that signing guys like this puts us farther from contention than closer. And the window opening was already pretty thin, if open at all.
I sure hope this doesn't cause the Spurs' use of the LLE to push them into the tax...
You want everyone to really panic? What if they did this because He's not going to be the fifth big because Splitter isn't coming over?
@ us if we miss out on both Scola and Splitter because of Bonner.
So how many of you are jumping off the bandwagon?
me. Bonner just crucified and nailed the Spurs asses to the Tree of Woe.
Too bad you can't call into Bonner's NBA show.
And if Spurs have truly spend more than $12M on Bonner, they have no excuses not to offer the full MLE to Splitter if it what it takes to get him or a max extension to Parker.
When you waste that much money on Bonner, there are no legit financial excuses.
I've seen one article that's all I'm sayin,
Bonner is worthless, this is bull
Bringing Bonner back is alright, I guess. But for this kind of money? It sounds so incredibly stupid I still hope it's a joke.
What was the FO thinking? Are they afraid the Warriors could lure him to Oakland to counter the Heat with their own version of the Big Three in Lee, Ellis and Bonner or something like that?![]()
Spurs might as well trade Parker now just to keep the trend going in this cluster of an off-season.
With quotes from Matt Bonner.
Its not like Matt Bonner was going to go on ESPN and have a one hour special about where he signs. He's Matt ing Bonner.
