The Spurs officially are in the head of Dallas guard and noted Spurs Nation villain Jason Terry.
Only a couple of days after predicting the Mavericks would catch the Spurs this season, “The Jet” was at it again Thursday.
Terry again stoked the coals of one of the best rivalries in professional sports by saying he wants the Spurs to qualify for the Western Conference finals.
The reason? He wants to personally beat the Spurs and then move on to the NBA Finals.
Here’s what Terry told old friend Jeff Caplan of ESPN.com Dallas about his interest in seeing the Spurs in the playoffs:
“For me it wasn’t necessarily catching them now. We’d much rather catch them in the Western Conference finals and then go onto the championship.
“Like I said, we’re going to catch them sooner or later. It’s definitely got to come to that. How we finished last year, us and them, they knocked us out. The year before, we knocked them out, so this is it.
“This is like Thrilla in Manila Part III. The Trilogy, so to speak.”
Terry even acknowledged that the Mavericks still are aspiring to achieve what the Spurs have done. Four times, in fact.
“They’ve got the rings, we don’t,” Terry added. “We’re still little brother to them, so it’s definitely a rivalry. We’re watching their score and I know they’re watching ours.”
And Terry’s case of “Spurs Envy” appears to grow by the day.

The "We beat the Spurs" championship is quite an accomplishment. Not many have done it. The Mavs being one of the few. I know why the paper plane, ugh I mean the jet, thinks about it year after year. It's been thier greatest accomplishment.
