LOL, everyone drank that since it was only 39 cents a bottle.
That used to be... Pistol Pete's Pizza
And who remembers..

I couldn't find the bottle pic, but we used to get the 20oz Cima Red and 2 tacos for a dollar at PikNik, right by the Victoria Courts. Walked in one night to a gang shootout breaking out right as I walked in.

A little later....but anybody remember this place? Wasn't around for very long.

I don't know if anyone here is old enough to remember Playland Park (loved that wooden rollercoaster as a child)
but I found this slideshow on youtube...apparently it closed down in 1980...
watching those slides made me pretty nostalgic- I always chose that VW van or the flying saucer as a child to sit in and ride in circles....sigh...and these eyes hadn't seen that tiny little chapel in ages...
That little amusement park was open way later than 1980. My son was born in 1994, and I took him there several times as a small child.
I went by what Wikipedia said...I am referring to Playland Park which had a wooden rollercoaster (pretty scary actually because of the wooden construction which shook like crazy---unlike those modern smooth hi-speed wonders)
Had a bunch of other rides for kids and adults too...
Hmm. Well I'm not from SA so we may very well be talking about 2 different parks. The one I mean was on Broadway by Brackenridge Park.
I think that is the same one....hmmm..wiki said 1980 closing...but who knows...
Kiddie Park is on Broadway near Brackenridge. It didn't have a wooden rollercoaster.
So where was the Playland?
I can't remember the location?
Playland was a little further towards downtown. Right where Alamo St. dies in to Broadway across from Brackenridge Golf Course.
There used to be a Bonanza steak house in that same area I thought was the as a kid. Almost as good as Sizzler!
Isn't that kiddieland? There's a gas station right by it, now. Maybe I'm confused.
Kiddieland is at Broadway/Mulberry. PlayLand was at Broadway/Alamo.
Po Folks is a regional chain, there was also one in Corpus in the 90s. Not there anymore though.
