Kobe is still the best player on that team. And in a way, he's also the worst in that he isn't going to respect any coach who comes in who hasn't a championship on his resume. I don't know that I blame him. Kobe's a closer and he wants a coach who is, too. But Pop, Rivers and Carlisle aren't available. Riley isn't available. Larry Brown isn't available. IMO he would only respect Jackson.

He might respect D'Antoni based on their Team USA association.

So, who pulled the trigger on the firing? Laker's Brass or Kobe?

Knee replacement surgery expected to keep Mike D'Antoni unable to coach until late December, league source tells Y! Sports.
Why do people keep acting like being able to walk is a requirement to coach the Lakers? Phil did it and he can't walk. Just have Coach Dan sit on the throne.

I'll chime in....happy to report the M Brown era is over. That's all, and if the Lakers don't win this year I will still be happy that Brown is gone. The Lakers are a veteran team that needs motivation (Rivers comes to mind) rather than pure x and o's and defensive schemes.

    Phil or Sloan.

Pringles is ok I presume as he was Kobe's favourite player when he was in Italy. The respect is there already.

In the words of Richter (Michael Ironside) in Total Recall when Cohaagen says it was OK to kill Quaid (Arnold): "It's about God damn time!"

I knew the Lakers would SUCK as soon as they hired the Clown before the beginning of last season, and totally lost interest until they could get their coaching together. Now Jimmy B, pull your head out of your ass and let someone more knowledgeable make coach hiring decisions.

can't understand how can someone respect a player that has only one liked coach.. He should be a soldier on the frontlines not the minister that scratches his balls ...

Plus he was a big D'Antoni fan growing up, he wore #8 in the NBA cuz that was Mike's number in Italy.

Didn't realize Bynum averaged more than 20ppg last season
It's not all about numbers. It's about the impact you have on the game. Bynum makes more of an impact.

Care to explain? Howard is more efficient, more consistent and can play more minutes if needed. Howard is also better on defense overall.

No clue, Adelman was ready to sign his contract for LAL and they just went with Brown.

While Bynum does take games off, he is more of a dominating force (when he's right) in the paint than Dwight. Dwight can be easily shut down/frustrated.
