Now Baynes = Splitter.
Awesome.
All bonner spreads is his legs son![]()
Now Baynes = Splitter.
Awesome.
In the 4 games Baynes has played 10+ minutes, the Spurs have won by 10+ points

He looks mentally tougher and he has a jumper so no.
Now Baynes > Splitter.
Awesome.
A deceptive stat considering the only reason he usually comes in (bar last night) is when a game is a blowout, tbh.
I don't see why there is such a rush to through Bayne's into the fire. Blair's contract is up this year and he's probably gone right? So there ya go. Baynes will slide into the 4th or 5th big role depending on the match-up. And with another year on Duncan's wheels, you bet there will be even more time for the bench bigs to sop up.
Baynes showed he can compete with Vukevic. He went after the compe ion with Vukevic. Baynes fans have reason to clamor for more. He would allow Splitter to stay at the 4 on the second unit which if nothing else would help matchups. His conditioning is also a lot better.
Gregg Ostertag >>>>>>>>>> Baynes
it's the sad state of NBA bigmen. even Baynes looks like a legit promise
Imagine Baynes coming in to tustle agains Shaq or Malonedude would get the smackdown and maybe a broken rib or 2 in less that 5 seconds
![]()
Let me be a bit more specific
Luc Longley >> Gregg Ostertag >>> Bill Wennington >>>>> Aron Baynes
wake the up![]()
what a sad little troll you are Hater...is there an ignore function on this forum?
Baynes has his use, when a game or series is physical then he is good and prolong the impact Duncan and Splitter can have by sharing the load. In a fast flowing, changing ends game he will be less useful.
Hater is a knob.
just speaking the truth
Baynes has no finesse to his game, no panache. it's all brute brawn australian bumpercar ball. in the old days, white boy would have been put out of comission, but NBA bigmen these days are plain pathetic.
Yet he shoots better than Splitter and has even shown a nice bank shot while Tiago only has a terrible hook shot.
You see there is a smattering of contribution to the topic in haters last post that gives me some hope, but you can't help but troll in a mad grasp for attention.
Baynes is a useful role player as are 95% of NBA players. The Spurs roster is full of them and when each plays to their potential they are a powerful unit. Relying on one particularly gifted player too much fails when they have an off night or stop contributing as they age...or when team chemistry wanes e.g. Lakers.
unfortunately the fact that playoffs are looming and rotations shrink to about 8-9 players escape you. Also the fact that basketball is a sport where one little mistake can cost you the game or a 5/6 point swing. And finally in Pop's system there is even less room for error. Nice try though.
ahhh, here hater your efforts to be obtuse means that you quibble when you should not, but it behooves me to reply in kind.
So, in terms suitable for the hard of thinking, let me rephrase: Few players on any roster are more than role players.
Some will have more than one roll in any given game.
Few players can carry a team e.g. manu and timmy in his prime or TP now.
Relying on those players when they age (reducing in physical capability and recovery) places more demand on the role players.
Mistakes happen, apart from limiting you own teams, it's what you do when they happen that makes the difference.
In this regard some role players have more testicular for ude and never drop their head (a little double entendre there that I'm sure will curl your toes with erotic glee)
Reduced rotations do not alter this fact, but instead highlight the failings of the role players in any given game.
Baynes current perceived role will be to spare TD and Splitter in the easier game. It's ugly, but within his remit and it's what he gets paid for. Though the fact that he costs what, around 1/5th of Splitter (?) currently makes him a bit of a bargain.
Awesome.
Never said that. Two very different players. Different roles.

Better at what? Certainly not at altering shots and rebounding.
Baynes wouldn't be a second thought if Splitter wasn't such a girl.
All that soft around the hoop is gonna get shut down when things get tough in the playoffs. I wish dude had a vertical jump greater than 2 inches and weighed more than 100lbs so he could finish even when being defended by someone with decent NBA strength.
That's a good point and why Splitter is not worth 10+ Millions.
Baynes would be useful if we meet OKC in the WCF.
The Thunder know our system too well, credit Presti for that
We would need to really shake it up and given their tendency to shut down Parker I would hazard that adding Manu to the starting lineup or Neal w/ Baynes instead of Tiago would throw them for a loop given that Gary/Manu can get their own shot plus w/ Baynes you just pound it in,his size/strength cant be matched by OKC
Baynes finishes with authority,Tiago is too used to EU ball and finishing soft cause even though EU ball has tougher defenses it has no athletic shot blockers hence his ugly toss-ups that get swatted by more athletic NBA bigs which the Thunder have
Get some people in foul trouble and throw 'em a look guaranteed to throw 'em off balance
If Baynes gets Perkins in foul trouble Timmy is gonna have a monster night.
Plus Baynes shouldnt be above a hard foul or two, been awhile since the Spurs had someone his size to dish it out.I can't be the only person who saw that a few hard fouls in last years WCF mighta slowed down the y Thunder
good ones.
We probably just need to trade him to Houston for cash and call it a day.
