If you ask me on the spot, I'll probably put him in the top 4 right now... yes, even if he is an attention . He always has been (even from his days in Cleveland, remember those baseline dancing videos?).
While a lot of people probably didn't like the whole The Decision stuff with ESPN and what not, don't forget all the greats have had the media complicit in self-promotion one way or the other (ie: the venerable flu game, the AIDS edition of the All Star, etc).
To his credit, he bid his time on the franchise that drafted him, went through difficult times (like the finals sweep), and finally figured out how to play the game the right way and be dominant at the same time. He's so good right now, that you don't even see the media mentioning him much at all, because there's not even a need to exaggerate how great he is. At this point, the only thing that would make news is if he falters.
