Messi was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. He openly took them. Hence: the midget
I tend to agree. Messi = James. Ronaldo = Kobe.
Annual best player in the world award:
![]()
He sang bagged an entire season if not 2 for his Club so he could be rested for the World Cup
Until Messi leaves Barcelona and performs at another League (Ronaldo did) or even Club, many of his accomplishments are overshadowed by Spain's Golden Generation
enlighten me to penaldo's greatest international achievement
dude has never defended the honor of his country. let USA take his cookie
Will Ronaldo show up to Messi's coronation as the world best player, or will he duck it out like he did La Liga, the Champions League and the World Cup?
A) It's voted by FIFA. Connect the dots
B) An award created in 2010. They vote for 1st, 2nd & 3rd
La Liga: 5-1st Place, 5-2nd Place, 3-3rd Place
Rest of the Continent: 2-3rd Place votes
Where is the jerking off smiley icon?
Ronaldo's International Resume is no better than Messi
Who is the Dad Killer of the sport IYO, Infinite?
The award is more than 4 years old... it just had a different name then... IIRC, Messi's 1st was with the old name...
Must be a pretty good personal award, since Penaldo couldn't stop crying about not winning it until he did last year...
messi was one higuain miss from shipping the wc le. penaldo drew USA. all there is to say
I'll admit I really don't follow soccer...nor will I probably ever. But, I've always heard that Pele is the GOAT.
Is that correct?
He might not even get an invite if Suárez and Neymar da Silva are the two other Finalists
That's the general consensus, tbh... although some people dispute that nowadays due to eras, compe ion, etc...
He should be there. He had a great season at the club level even if Messi once again was miles better than him at every level. The fact that the distance between 1st and 2nd is much wider than 2nd to 3rd doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be the 1st loser.
Currently? Ya it's Messi
Soccer doesn't have a GOAT type like NBA. More along the lines of NFL, with many different positional players having their respective claim. Pele has the scoring records but played in another generation and against suspect compe ion at the time. But he has the greatest success at the greatest stage (World Cup).
In terms of Post Maradona players, Messi is compared with Zidane & Brazilian Ronaldo. I'll put Messi above BRA Ronaldo but in order for Messi to finish ahead of Zidane he has to either win the World Cup OR move to another Club.
Messi is compared to Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, etc... upper-echelon/best ever... Now I'm not sold that he's better than Diego, tbh (I've watched them both), but he's rightly into that conversation, and barring injury he can continue to make a great case...
When you look at Cristiano Rolando though, it's clear he's in that 2nd tier of great generation players, like Zidane, BRA Ronaldo, etc... I also think he has a great case there...
I used to hear about some guy called Ronaldino..is he on any elite list
Zidane 2nd tier?
The guy had no weakness [Messi has quite a few]. The guy won every award/championship imaginable at multiple nations [Messi has not]. He Won the World Cup and almost single handily defeated Italy. Zidane doesn't pull a disappearing act against Germany this summer.
There is nothing Messi does that Zidane couldn't and the same can't be said vice versa. Messi plays Striker at one of the most offensive powered [before he showed up] clubs in one of the most offensive powered leagues. Big deal. Didn't score in the World Cup Final and didn't score today. If all you do is score....well you better score
Zidane is not in anybody's top 5 greatest player list or ever been in that discussion. Most people put him below Cryuff, that never won a World Cup either.
GOAT discussion always centers on Pele, Maradona, Di Stefano, Cryuff, Puskas, Beckenbauer, Messi(?)...
By the time you get to the Zidane, Ronaldo (BRA), Maldini, Platini, Eusebio, etc, you're well past the top 5, more like looking at top 10-15 territory... I think Cristiano has a good shot at this.
But you already know this... even if it makes you really uncomfortable.
Zidane was recently voted the Greatest Player in Champions League History [2013]. He had no rival in his ERA, he was the guy. Messi will suffer over time as Ronaldo continues to duplicate [and even eclipse] what Messi is doing AND eventually the next Barcelona star that racks up goals/ les. While Ronaldo was busy battling in the most grueling League on the Planet [winning the Champions League at Man U] Messi was racking up goals in La Liga playing alongside Henry and Eto. I'm not impressed.
There is simply no-way Argentina [2 World Cups] while easily qualifying for the World Cup by not being in UEFA [Nations like France, Holland and England have not qualified recently] have 2 of the 3 or even 5 Greatest Players. That is laughable. Messi is the flavor of the moment......as in the past 6 months. Before then Ronaldo was the superior player 2 years running.
Sidenote: eventually Ronaldo will leave Real and even La Liga. If he manages to Win a Champions League le at his next stop [3 different teams]...... WoW. It will further dilute Messi's accomplishments.
Lionel Messi Beats Zidane to Be Named Champions League's Greatest Player Ever
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...st-ever-player
yeah, no. Obviously a guy that only won it twice (and lost the Champions League finals twice too) just can't stack up.
This isn't a discussion about what impresses you or not. His 14 career les (and he retired well past 34 years old), just don't add up to to put him in any top 5 greatest player list.
I like Zidane, and I understand that you might be a fan and what not, but bring up any top 5 greatest players list from pretty much any publication, and he's not there. You know that.
He's beating all those guys that play in UEFA. Heck, he's beating them at record setting pace. He's setting records not just in La Liga, but all over European Football. He's being doing that well before the past 6 months.
Haters gonna hate, Lio just gonna keep collecting dem trophies...
most overrated player to ever kick povertyball
