The players that withdrew from Team USA just don't get it.

America cares. The world cares. And the players should absolutely care. The players that withdrew (including Kawhi) are the ones who look like fools for missing out on all of this.
Im glad KL, Manu and Tony are all missing out on this.
There is one goal in this, NBA championship, for the Spurs.
Period. When a legit world league is born let us know.

This is not soccer where you can take solace you won the World Cup, when your club team got destroyed (are you listening Bayern). Or the EPL where you win some cup finally and feel good(Arsenal).

Few people watch the ing FIBA world cup. The olympic games makes some sense, but the "World Cup" is a joke and a risk.

Brazil played well 2nd and 3rd quarters and was terrible in the 1st and the last one. Huertas had too many TOs, he didn't care of the ball and he was trying some fancy when he really shouldn't. I think Neto played way better than him. Bright spot was Brazil's front-court.

Brazil has a nice front-court, and Splitter played very wel.

As for US, It was supposed to be Rose's show, but he looked bad. Some flashes, but not even close to the old Derrick Rose. Harden/Davis were US's best players.

It's much more than that. These athletes are getting paid millions to play at their best level and take care of their bodies. Risking their bodies for country wherein they get nothing and their mother franchises don't get any insurance is enough motivation to back out.

Playing for the country is a personal decision and one should not be criticized for not doing so.

Psh plus it's not like the NBA is not popular on the global stage

in a league where scrubs like Dwight Howard and Carmelo get max money it doesn't matter if they even say the word "team USA"

the league GMs are already handing out money to pretty much any old scrub they see so playing in team USA means jack

What was Splitter's stat line? Saw some box scores but only had USA's score.

Splitter did have at least 1 successful post up against Davis.

No one is getting contracts based off the performances they put in for the US national team. Even at the Olympics, considering the current dominating state of the team.

The players on this team either already have brands, or aren't deserving of them, and these games aren't going to change that.

BTW, Kawhi is already Jordan branded, so I'm pretty sure he couldn't care less.

Splitter is very good on this team.
    They need him.

The Spurs will keep him also.
Overall, Tiago had a good game.
Who said that the Spurs wouldn't keep Splitter? Where do you people come up with this crap?

Pretty clear this team goes as far as Davis takes them...
Why were the Team USA commentators saying during the game that his spot on the team is in question? Before they even said that, I figured he was pretty much a lock to make the team.

What the kind of post is this? They want to rest for the NBA season. Why don't you go out there and play, and put your body on the line, and let's see how you feel through an 82 game season grind after playing in the Olympics or World Cup.

Kawhi already explained himself. He basically said he saw how Manu and TP both looked after playing during the summer the last two seasons, and he thought it's in his best interest and the team's best interest that he doesn't play. It's not purely about marketing and money for Kawhi. He wants to win in the NBA against the best compe ion, and he wants to give his team and himself the best chance to do that.

Did you see Jordan play in the summer every year? He didn't, and he did alright for himself by winning in the NBA against the best players in the world.

People on this board were disappointed with his contract.
The statement was meant to confirm his presence on our team as important.

Most people would have realized he earned that contract with his play in the earlier rounds of the playoffs. Why even bother saying the Spurs will keep Splitter. He's under contract, so unless you've heard otherwise, there was no point in you even mentioning it.

    Oh good Christ...

    I just mentioned his contract.
You are taking things to literally and not in the context of the game played last night.
The only person who should be confused is... you.

Yeah, and one of them was a typical Timmy move. Calm under the basket using a pump fake to get a clean easy basket.
