It occurs to me that not only is Rondo a terrible fit in Dallas, he's actually not among the top half of starting PGs in the NBA now.
More fun with Rondo stats. The Mavs thrive on PnR actions with Dirk. Rondo ranks in the 18th percentile as a PnR ball-handler, per Synergy.
No way Lakers are giving up Randle imho.

Rajon Rondo is currently ranked 31st in the league in Real Plus-Minus. AMONG POINT GUARDS: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/sort/RPM/position/1 … #RondoFacts

Per Synergy, Rondo is 31st percentile on D this year. Doing a good job against PnR, though, at 66th%. Last year, 11th%. 40th vs. PnR.

Mavs built around PnR. Rondo is 18th % per Synergy. 11th percentile last year. That's not about his PnR partners. That's having no jumper.

Having a point guard who wants to control and probe compromises the entire point of the system. And it's one based off PnR.

The argument I keep getting is that Rondo is a distributor/gets assists. @haralabob has done a great job explaining Rondo's "assist whoring"

Is Rondo better than Nelson? Yes. Is he a better fit offensively? No, because you can at least station Nelson on the weak side a 3PT threat.

This isn't fantasy basketball. You don't just add a player because he's "better" than your current starter. You have to consider fit.

In Rondo talks, Boston and Dallas discussing package including Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder and a first-round pick, sources tell Yahoo.
Meeehhh...
Whether it's a good fit or not, getting a player of Rondo's caliber for that price is a steal imo..
Sure, but that leaves a big hole at the C position.
Tyson will inevitably suffer some injuries as the season goes on. I can't wait for the Mavs to start Dirk at C.
Agree with that. Surprised the mavs aren't at least trying to get Zeller back in the deal.
IF the deal is done they would have Rondo, Nelson, Harris, Barea and Felton. Some move will be done around two of them i guess, has to.
Harris is the only one that has a semblance of trade value. I'm fine with JJB being the backup PG actually
