Pop always talks about "getting over yourself" and it's time he practices what he preaches. If he's truly gotten over himself, he'll shelve the shtick and let the players decide. They've earned the right to determine whether it's important enough to play and despite what they say publicly, I can't imagine any compe or not wanting to finish the job.

What's more, it's not like it doesn't make sense for them not to schedule wise. Clearly, the remaining three that are obvious rest games, are the Warriors/Nuggets back to back and the season finale, at the Mavericks.
    Great post.

Been saying it for the last few years. Pop should get over himself.

I personally think the players should decide if they want to go for it or not. I think Pop owes them that much. Pop can state his case on why he doesn't think that it's important, but he should still let the players have a say in it.

Pop the psychologist fears the Spurs could go 41-0 and then lose game 1 of the first round. The psychological damage could be insurmountable.

I agree the ring and health come first but it would be pretty cool. Subtract some points since the dubs are also going to do it though.
    the dubs.

sucks for the Spurs that this is an amazing feat that nobody will remember because it happened in the same season the Dubs set the all-time wins record lmao

Now that we know that the Warriors won't be able to match, it's become a bit more interesting. I know rings are important, but you don't pass down a chance at 73-9 or 41-0. That's really a huge achievement.

Imagine if both records are broken this year, we would hear about it for years to come: remember the year the Spurs managed to beat the 73-9 Warriors at home twice to clinch 41-0? That would be epic.

Even better if it means the Warriors finish at 72-10!

i think it is going to come down to influential players (TD/Manu) talking Pop into it..they really have earned the right to achieve it without compomsing their rest plan..just sit out the away games including the last one at Dallas and go all in for Tor/GSW /OKC..can't hand Warriors the 73rd win on platter @SA..

Tonight will probably be a loss though. Everytime the warriors lose, the Spurs lose right back.

This. I was explaining this to a friend while watching the Celtics Warriors game last night.

I also screamed from the balcony 'IT'S OVAH!' when the Celtics won (I won $20 off my friend on a bet on that game). Gonna get shot one of these days here, tbh.

Especially as all three will be on the back end of B2Bs.

38-0 is already the best home win record in NBA history. At this point we are only beating our own record.

Now that Spurs can safely rest and win by playing most or all of the starters last 2 home games, need to do it.
