Is it just me or is this such an overrated statement about the Spurs and drafting?

Only Spurs fans hate this front office.

Not everyone else. When that happens time to look in the mirror

This portends the end for fat head imo. They play different positions, but this guy can replace the offensive creativity fh offered and we can get a real backup SF.

Who gets more minutes next season: Bertans, Livio, or Murray?
    Jeeezzz. I would say Bertans,
and yet we are likely to need guard minutes. It will probably depend on Murray controlling those TO. Bertans can always shoot, so I am going Bertans.

Way to twist my statement around.

You just love arguing for the sake of it.

I don't think they have to do with each other. If anything they complement each other.

The San Antonio Spurs select Washington PG DeJounte Murray with the No. 29 pick. Steal of the draft. He was ranked No. 9 on my final Big Board bling, athletic and a great feel. If his shooting improves he could be the best PG in the draft. He could be an All-Star someday. Seriously. Typical Spurs. They got a lottery pick at 29.

I think Spurfan has been spoiled with their late draft success. Most players that late are out the league after their first contract. What has Philly, Lakers etc done with all their lottery picks? Luck is huge.
Of course it's more difficult for the Spurs to do well in the draft, they always pick late, etc..

It's just humorous that every single draft night, most of the media is all over TV and Twitter saying, "the Spurs did it again!!!", when in reality, they haven't been special at finding gems through the draft or free agency in years..

What's funnier is that they're overrated for their drafting but yet underrated for their actual on court results.

I rather see Simmons as the guy likely to get pushed out. Kyle is a forward.

I did too. GS got him at 38.
Yep, bought his rights for cash from the Bucks. Let's see how he develops going forward. At least he didn't go to a franchise like the Kings

Since they've had just two players since 2008 pan out, and one was traded for the other, yes.

Spurs drafting has been overrated recently but when you pick so late every year it's pretty much just luck as to who will actually pan out.

I see what you did there, but "don't worry, be happyyyyy!"
We kept Danny, and this kid at 6'5" with a 6'10" wingspan can play both positions eventually (needs to learn to shoot, so does Kyle TBH, and he needs to add muscle, and so does Kyle to play the 4). Yes, I wish they were ready sooner, but what can you do?

He will also push Simmons, who is rather older and doesn't have the time this kid has to work in his game and improve.
I'm fine with Murray being raw. I just hope that he will be ready when the team needs him. I really wanted a young PG in the system last year and was apoplectic when the team stashed a big instead. I don't know if he's a long-term fit with Anderson on the bench, but he gives the team options, and that's something they've been lacking. I'm really interested to see if this kid has the intangibles he needs to realize his potential.

The team got a guard, they didn't get Qi or Maker. That's almost perfect. If only they would have picked up AJ Hammonds or another big in the second.

They were lucky here other teams had so many 1st round picks they didn't deal that they drafted a lot of stashes and this guy fell. He was really expected higher. He has flaws obviously but they are correctable and he's 19.

Pretty much says we are riding out Parker's contract while slowly bringing this kid along. I doubt we go after Conley now. I think it's Durant or Gasol. Most likely Gasol.

    Parker/ mills/ Murray
    Green/ Simmons/????
    Leonard/ Anderson/ Bertans
    Aldridge/ Livio/????
    Gasol/ marjanovich/ Milutinov

    Imo...
FA hasn't even started. TP is no lock to stay.
