No doubt. I was curious to see if he was just going to ride the coattails of his younger teammates to win this relay, and Phelps turned out to be the strength of the team and the reason they won gold.

Allen Iverson had one bad game (against Puerto Rico), Duncan played great the entire time, so these two aren't to blame. Even the rest of the guys aren't really to blame for this.The ones you should be blaming are the missing 2003 USA GOLD MEDAL guys (the roster that WHOOPED EVERYONE INCLUDING ARGENTINA) who made excuses to bail out most likely because of the terrorist threat at Athens in 2004 (the 2004 team had to sleep on a ship guarded by Navy SEALs). Don't blame the young inexperienced guys that actually manned up and stepped up to represent their country and don't blame the two superstars (A.I and TD) who actually did their part. NINE of the original players left and by the time the new team was formed and the new squad only had ONE WEEK of practice before the Olympics started.The guys that left were Ray Allen, Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Jermaine O'Neal, Mike Bibby, Elton Brand, Kenyon Martin and Nick Collison. When these guys were on the squad with Iverson, Duncan and Richard Jefferson in 2003, they were undefeated and destroyed every team including Argentina. But they bailed out and instead of pointing the finger at them, ya'll wanna point it at the guys who manned up and represented smh.
