He says he still has some pain. How the is gonna be returning "soon" if he's still feeling pain from an ailment plaguing him since last fall?
Yeah I don't get it. It's not like we are in September or whatever.

I think with. Kawhi is a phenomenal player, but to expect him to be playing at his MVP level of last season (which let's face it, is the only way Spurs can even get to the second round) is too much this late in the season. And there's also going to be a lot of awkwardness in trying to fit Kawhi back in. The offense is atrocious and Kawhi should help but I don't think it's going to be seamless and the Spurs don't have enough time to be firing on all cylinders come playoff time. Had Kawhi returned in January the Spurs would have had a much better chance integrating him.

An 80% Kawhi isn't going to beat Harden and CP3. Yes, Harden was last year but CP3 historically owns the Spurs and the Rockets got significantly better over the summer while the Spurs got significantly worse.
That must be where we disagree. The Spurs have played Denver, Utah, and New Orleans to almost a standstill without Kawhi, so I think the Spurs beat all of those teams in about 6 games with Kawhi. He really is that good. I can't see a fully healthy Spurs team losing to anyone other than Golden State and Houston.

He has been missing so long, that fans forget how much he could impact a game. Hopefully he's fine after all the tendinopathy saga, he signs the supermax and team recovers from this. I am not even that worried about this season bc I was already ready for him not coming back. Rather, I hope there are no recurrences from this for the rest of his career.

Never suggested otherwise. It’s just funny to me that when he finally speaks there’s no way there’s any sincerity in his words according to fans.

An 80% Kawhi isn't going to beat Harden and CP3. Yes, Harden was last year but CP3 historically owns the Spurs and the Rockets got significantly better over the summer while the Spurs got significantly worse.

But that’s the problem..y’all are caught up in the moment and judging this team without Kawhi like he’s played all year..that’s just not fair and just an unrealistic perspective.

I tried to use the Rockets as an example..that’s like saying the Rockets would be true contenders if they ONLY had Paul or Harden which is total BS.. that’s the team that lost Game 6 at home against the Kawhi less Spurs.. this is the NBA where talent matters especially when it’s a top 5/ALL NBA player

People are selling Kawhi short tbh and I get it..we haven’t seen him play since he got Zaza’d but literally before that happened EVERYONES tune changed toward this team or “ ty” roster. If you don’t believe that you’re just being a negative ****..which isn’t surprising since you probably thought the Spurs were gonna lose the Rocket series once Kawhi went down..

Talk is cheap. Until he signs on the dotted line, call me skeptical. Of course Kawhi is going to come out in his first public interview and tell people what they want to here.

    It's great he finally spoke.

It's a positive for him/his brand and the Spurs' morale heading into the last 18 games.

Regarding him saying a short " yeah for sure", I won't be convinced until he signs an extension this summer. I'm just glad he said what needed to be said months ago for his teammates more than anything else ( whether it's true or not).

That means that Pop knew everything that Kawhi was doing to return since preseason...In fact, he traveled with Spurs personnel to train in other cities.

There was any possibility that Pop ignored what Kawhi was doing...So the trolls here saying Kawhi didn't talk to the team/the team didn't know what happen, where he was working, were wrong.

Like the b*tches here saying he didn't want play for the Spurs anymore.

    OH ...SURPRISE... THEY WERE WRONG.
My thing is I don't believe they spoke EVERYDAY. I'm sure Pop was aware of what he was doing because he/the team would have to be in the loop. But them speaking every single day as Kawhi claims I feel is an exaggeration. THAT'S what I call bs on, the everyday part.

And you keep bringing up that he travelled with Spurs personnel. Was it ever released who exactly? Because his long time best friend is Spurs personnel. Having his homeboy with him all the time isnt the same as having someone who's first priority is the team. Throwing out Spurs personnel travelled with him if it was Jeremy is PR spin to squash all those rift rumors.

Regardless I'm glad something was said cause from PR and business standpoints it needed to be said. I hope when Kawhi comes back he picks up where he left off and continues to shine. And I hope that it's with the Spurs for the foreseeable future because I'm a fan of the team and he is the player the team is built around.

I don't think he would answer any differently even if he wanted to leave. Can't blame him, the team and coach Pop's future is uncertain. I can't see Pop coaching another 5 years. That might be a bigger factor than the team actually upgrading this offseason for Kawhi to stay.

Good news. Obviously no matter what he really thinks he is gonna say the right things to support his team, but I didn't get fake vibes from his "yeah, for sure.” it didn't sound canned to me. Came across as like "duh, of course I do." Took it as a legit response.

Whether he stands by that or not, we won't know until summer. But this is the best news spursfan has gotten in a long ass time!

Yes thinking the spurs will lose comfortably to one of the top two teams in the league is slitting my wrists

This is the worst spurs team of the last twenty years, and that’s fine. They just need to blow it up over the summer and try again.
The first part isn’t the slitting the wrist part. It’s the last part. Spurs are still a damn playoff level team in a tough, tough West WITHOUT KAWHI all damn year.

GTFO with that worst team crap. Yes, they are struggling and may not be as good as HOU/GS, but they are WAYYYYYY BETTER (especially with a healhty Kawhi) than you give credit for.

I think in the last month since every single day counts in his rehab this late into the season. He probably has to give Pop a personal update. He may not have spoken to him everyday since the beginning of the season but the last few weeks? It sounds very likely. Every progression and next step into rehab is probably Pop and Kawhis' final decision so it would make sense they at least talk for a few minutes on how he's feeling that day.

People take things too literally as well. Kawhi saying Pop and him spoke everyday doesn’t mean for the entire season. It could have meant for the past few weeks while he was in NY/NJ getting second opinions and working out. Who knows, the point was that it was a joint decision, the team was in the loop and Kawhi is not pinning anything on the Spurs publicly.

as for those who have scrutinized his lack of emotion...i've seen leonard get hyped once in all his time as a spur and that was when he was named MVP of the finals. even then it was a very awkward celebration. the dude is just wired differently when it comes to his outward persona.
