He's getting no respect from the refs because this is basically his rookie season as far as visibility goes - the refs don't know him. Spurs have this re ed military style system where the rookies need to spend most of their time in D-League to "get over themselves". Same with Splitter years ago. He spent his rookie season buried behind the corpse of McDyess. When he finally did receive significant playing time a year later, he got called for cheap fouls all the time because the refs didn't know him.
