Against many other teams Pop could give Gay some minutes at the 5, opening up some minutes at forward, but not against the Lakers. Poeltl is playing badly but Eubanks isn't looking great either.

Yeah, Poeltl can play some defense(when he's not in foul trouble) but struggles at every facet of the game on the other end of the court. No ability to shoot whatsoever. Even Shaq was never this bad from the free throw line.
