good to see people happy when they've earned it --
closest thing we'll get to a riverwalk parade for a long while

winning fixes everything
i don't know if it's pride .. but for me an armchair analyst, it seems like it would be tough for a bunch of grade A Alphas to get thrown together and then have to learn, understand, and accept their roles to make the team better, when they are each used to being the number one alpha dog. It's like 5 DDRs not knowing what to do when he's not taking the ball up the court ... he just stands in the corner and waits for his moment.
i think pop's coaching in this olympics is underrated (and overrated) ... like his career. but the bottom line is, scoreboard es, gold medal baby
Circa many of Manu's shots, passes and moves.
Yeah, that noise. I am going to enjoy a young Spur and an old coach getting the gold.
I really think that’s it’s the continuity of these other teams playing together whereas team USA seems to always look totally off at times. I wondered the same thing about Lillard, he at times looked lost. But i always think back to 2012 when Spain took prime Kobe,Lebrun,Wade, and Melo down to the wire under Coach K. These other teams just seem to sometimes play more in tune with each other than the US. It’s almost like the superstars on the US teams sometimes forget how to play alongside other stars or something
smh, can't take the L and move on... made.
Draymond Green, feeling good after ceremony, wraps arm around Keldon Johnson. “We got a young 21-year-old they said shouldn’t be here. They gave Pop sh*t for it. And he brought more energy than anybody. That’s what we needed.”

... well yeah, the national teams all grow up playing together and know their roles, and play a more physical game on the regular. They're always going to have that as their chance to offset the huge USA talent advantage, but we've known that since the 2000s when Spain, France, and Argentina came up
dude, go see a therapist and get on some SSRIs
He's by far the best player to come out of Prince George's County, Maryland, so I've always had a love - hate feeling for him (being I'm from PG but a Spurs fan).
Still he proved why he's an all - time great (better than Kobe, IMHO) and led the team to a gold medal.
Props to Pop, Durant, KJ, Middleton , Holiday and everyone else on or involved with team USA!
Coach Pop joined rarefied air and deserves all the adoration and love.

Durant put it out there. As a fellow longhorn I was excited to watch him play in person once a long time ago at UT.
He's an amazing HOF player and I do appreciate the fact that he showed up three times to be the top guy on three gold medal teams.
Now that he is in the Eastern Conference he's a less of a pain in the neck to my Spurs fan mode that is always first and foremost.
This is the same guy who said that Middleton was Batman and Giannis what Robin.
Then he came back around and defended that take, even after Giannis dropped 50 to win the championship.
Kendrick Perkins thinks he's going to be the next Stephen A Smith by delivering these "hot takes", but SAS actually ing knows something about basketball.
I like how Durant and Green and some other players came out against the Liberal News and basically questioned "Your Americans, too. Act Like It".. Well Said...........![]()
Never forget that OKC let go of Harden over a dispute of something like 4-6 mil per year after they gave Perkins a 5/40 deal
How come Patty was acting like he just met Durant saying wow you are tall, he has played against this guy forever lol
Gregg didn't f*ck it up at the end. Congrats on that, then.
KD got my admiration for the way he played and led the team.
You tell your "friends" about people who post on a forum? Sounds legit.
Is Pop the first coach to win an NBA championship and a gold medal?
No.
Chuck Daly 92
Lenny Wilkens 96
Rudy T 2000
Pop is the first to start Bryn Forbes in an NBA game.
The outright pride for this country is not there like it used to be. To be honest, these players are more about themselves and their dollars than their country. TBH, I don't totally blame them, but at the same time, they are not soldiers. So their call to arms is on the court. I would like to see more desire, passion, fire, drive, and selflessness from our players. I want them to want to drive home with extreme prejudice that the USA is the most dominant basketball nation on the planet. I want them to behave like brothers, as other nations do.
Gregg Popovich had message for critics after Team USA gold: 'How the f*** you like us now?' (yahoo.com)
"You guys went through all that stuff, and your families were sacrificing back there the same way," Popovich continued, starting to choke up. "That's why I'm so proud to be part of this. It's like the best feeling I've ever had in basketball."
WTF?! Come on, now, Pop. Nothing beats 2014 after what your"You guys went through all that stuff, and your families were sacrificing back there the same way," Popovich continued, starting to choke up. WTF?! Come on now, Pop. Nothing beats 2014 after what the team and their fans went through in 2013. I know the Olympics is at a global stage but the compe ion was weaker and Pop's chances of winning were greater than our chances were in 2014. Pop spent most of his coaching career with TD, Manu and TP and to see them win their final championship should trounce this Olympic run fielding a team of guys who he hasn't spent nearly as much time and who mostly used to talk about Pop and the Spurs before. He must of just got caught up in the moment and doesn't really feel this way now.
Could any coach have taken this 2021 Tokyo team to the gold? No way!
