Damn, he's at Sochan levels of can't shoot. Just in a completely different way.

Spurs will be recalling rookie guard Blake Wesley today after his stint with the Austin Spurs. He’ll be inactive tonight but could see action Friday night in Orlando. If so, it would be his first with the Spurs since he injured his knee in late October.

in summer league and now gleague, spurs have been giving Wesley the "go do everything on offense for us" role and its painfully clear he's not good enough for that. but in his limited action with the big boys, and a much more contained role, he looked reasonable

with Jones still having the starting role and Sochan/Richardson both up to the task to handle some backup duty, they dont have to thrust Wesley into anything he isn't ready for. ideally we find a suitor for Richardson and allow Wesley/Sochan to share those backup PG minutes

Blake Wesley is here in Orlando, but he won’t be available tonight. Basically a numbers game in that the Spurs need more bigs against Magic.

1 assist. Looks like the Wesley PG experiment is at least on hold, if not over.

Too early. He’s just back from injury and still testing his game. I’m just happy he’s putting up numbers. And I don’t mind him staying awhile at Austin. I’m liking Branham pkaying backup PG for now to get him aggressive more with the ball in his hand, which I think he’s responding well.

That might be a big read. He may be asked to work specifically on his shot creation and finishing right now, which frankly are dire right now.

Good to see him hitting those 3's as he was not a good shooter in college.

Thanks for the vid. It's just what I was looking for.

Wesley came down with his lower body rotated almost 90 degrees and his right foot well in front of his left on each three. The left foot was sideways each time on landing. This certainly looks unorthodox, but is it bad? More importantly, is it dangerous? With regards to future injury potential, that is.

Shooting stance seems bad. Not sure about for injuries but if he isn’t already making jumpers consistently with that stance I have to think it’s part of the problem. But I’m not a shot analyst.

There was a reason he was picked when he was I am not worried what he is showing in his first year. He is a project so just want him to get better every year and I think year 3 will see him live up to his true potential

A true success story would have him become a legitimate rotation player. But just like Lonnie if he doesn’t become an all star this crowd will turn on him.

I didn’t turn on Lonnie because he wasn’t an All Star, I turned on him because he wasn’t a serviceable NBA player. His career net rtg when he left was-12, the deficit for every 100 possessions he was on the floor for 4 years.

That’s a bit disingenuous. Imagine having a net rating on a ty team. The bottom line is that he’s a serviceable player and at this point he’s exceeded his draft position.

You can be on the same bad teams and have different net ratings. Most of the guys during the seasons he was here had slight negatives, -3 to -5. Derrick White and Dejounte had positive net ratings seasons while Lonnie was here. STs favorite whipping boy Bryn Forbes out performs him. In their two overlapping seasons, Forbes was -1 and -8, and his overall Spurs mark is -5.

Lonnie Walker was one of the worst, most atrocious defenders to ever lace up for the Silver and Black.

Pretty good stuff. That left handed crossover and the power move to the basket can't be taught. One reason why I was so opposed to Primo running point because he almost never had any easy buckets like that.

If Blake Wesley can dunk every shot, he's going to be a very, very good player.
