what about acies back to back turnovers in ot?, or all the freethrows yall bricked?
A&M can usually weather such mistakes as 500 balls slipping through Marlon's hands and Sloan shooting a half court shot with years left on the clock, but not with 9000 FTAs by UT.

I've said this team is a Final 4 squad if they shoot 75% FTs (which they were doing about halfway through the Big 12 season). If they don't improve that soon, then it's all over. FTs will kill you at this level - and Acie's B2B turnovers were in the 1st OT... they had plenty of opportunities in the 2nd OT to pull it out.
if augustine calls a timeout like every other PG would when trapped, Texas would have won the 1st ot, - freshman mistake
If Marlon ever stopped being a freshman and learned how to catch the ball uncontested at the top of the key or not slip out of bounds... list goes on.
Leave it to a couple of Aggie fans to come in here ing about refs. I was first row - closer to the action than anyone here, and it was physical as . When you body up the ball handler you're gonna get a lot of pushes, bumps, and fouls. That's the way it is every game, and AM continued to do it and use their hands.
UT won with 4 freshman and a sophmore, and with the freshman making freshman mistakes. This one should have ended in regulation, but Durant let Law get a shot off instead of fouling with 3 - 4 seconds left. Law came with it tonight, great game and I only wish he could slip to the Spurs in the 1st round. They need a backup PG.
Didn't have to try hard to enjoy the game. It's always fun winning, it's more fun winning in a double OT thriller.
We'll be fine in the NCAAs as long as we don't run into Durant and his merry band of zebras.
TEXAS A&M POSTGAME QUOTES
Billy Gillispie, Head Coach
"On Texas a team: We had to play a lot of help defense, and we fouled them too much. They went to the free throw line 41 times and we went only to 23 times, and that killed us. That was the most important thing, we fouled them too much and that made us have to use different line ups due to a couple of guys fouling out."
Billy Boy knew they were fouling. They couldn't keep Augustine or Durant in front of them all night without pushing and grabbing.
In all fairness to both sides... UT should have won this game on several occasions. They made a ton of silly frosh mistakes at the end and the only offense the ags had were 4 miracle 3's (2 each by Law and AK). Other than that, their offense was nil in the OTs. The mistakes not to foul Law in regulation, the silly turnovers - to include throwing it away on an inbounds play, almost let the ags win.
I thought it was a very sloppy game both ways.
The best atm can finish in the B12 is a 3-way tie, with UT coming out on top and atm the #2 seed. I still think KU beats UT at home and wins outright.
Nice assessment. Aggies have a hard time when the refs call ticky tack fouls(they are fouls) They play solid in your face defense, like Bruce Bowen and when the refs feel like calling every foul, the Aggies have to adjust their style. Billy going to zone was out of neccessity, not a brilliant move, like the announcers said it was.
Acie Law is the most clutch college bball player in the history of the Big 12, and one of the top 10 in college history. I hope the Spurs can somehow draft him.
I dod not claim John.

Man, I'm still exhausted from watching that game last night. I guess I could take the low road made well known by jgw and say we now 'own' a&m in basketball and that Barne's owns Gillespie, but I have more respect for myself than that (and also understand jgw isn't representative of all ag posters on this board).
In the end it was just an amazing performance by two well coached, talented basketball teams. Law is just a stone cold killer when making shots, when he put up that one at the end of regulation I found myself expecting it to go in, big surprise...it did.
Durant maybe the best 18 year old basketball player I've ever seen. I thought they didn't try to get the ball to him enough in the OT's but he made some huge shots. Damien James in particular picked a great night to have his best overall game of the season, very impressive.
The last thing I'll say here is that it's great to have this level of basketball in Texas at this time of the year. Not on the East coast, or the West coast, or in the Southeast.....in TEXAS. It really shows how far this state has come in regards to college basketball on the national scene. Props to both teams and both of them making a run in the big dance.![]()
The offense was 'nill' because all of our starters had fouled out except for Law and Kirkthe only offense the ags had were 4 miracle 3's (2 each by Law and AK). Other than that, their offense was nil in the OTs.Thanks stripes!
The offensive foul on AK in first 2 mins was Horrible, the foul on Carter against Durrant was Horrible, the Offensive foul on Acie was Horrible, the foul on JJ against Pitman was Horrible(Pitman was juggling the ball, JJ was just trying to get the ball along with another player)
This make 2 straight games that the Ags got jobbed by refs in this series, but that is just the breaks. The Ags have to find a way to win when the calls go against them.
Enough already about the refs, damn. Just give props to the longhorns and move on to the next game. Both teams represented the big 12 very well on national tv.
Apparently, Big Baby and Shaq had a 3-way with Tractor Traylor and named the kid Dexter Pittman
its fun to watch aggy lose.
its more fun to watch them lose a game in double OT
but the best is watching them cry after the game
Bad Calls or not Joe Jones needs to start thinking when he's in foul trouble. Too often he'll have 3 or 4 fouls and put himself in a position to potentially get that pivotal 4th or 5th one called on him because of bad positioning or being too aggressive. His 5th foul last night was one that could've been easily avoided yet he got too far up on the penetration and stuck his thigh out. Same thing with D-Kirk going up for that loose ball on the inbounds play. Had he stayed in position he probably would've gotten the steal without picking up his 5th foul. The refs called the game ticky tack from the beginning and the ags have to adjust. Outside of that they played their asses off so the loss doesnt hurt me that bad. We're still a number 2 and are in great position going into the Big 12 tourney. Hopefully Texas can knock off Kansas and have us finish in a tie for the regular season le.
Barnes owns Gillispie?
1. A&M lost b/c they didn't have their starters in, should they have fouled out?...thats debatable, but i don't think so
2. t.u. is 3-3 against A&M since Gillispie became our coach...thats not ownage
by either school.2. t.u. is 3-3 against A&M since Gillispie became our coach...thats not ownage
What a crying little .![]()
