By the Olympic Treatment, you mean when refs with no agendas officiate every game with no bias and to the best of their abilities?

Duncan could have used a big dose of Joey Crawford and his other "officials" at the Olympics
No agenda? Like not eliminating the US from contention? For the king of conspiracies and chips on a shoulder pretty lame not to see a potential reason.

    Joey Crawford Suspended Indefinitely!

    April 17, 2007 2:22 PM

Check out David Stern's chat on ESPN, where he says: "We are not getting any satisfaction out of this. Crawford is always one of our highest rated officials. We just did what we had to do."

Memo to league officials: do not mess with Tim Duncan. The Spurs are my pick to win the le.

When asked if JC could appeal, Stern said "It's not gonna Happen"! Awesome!! He also said that Joey said he thinks he did the right thing and if given the chance he would do it again.

Time to suspend that blind Alzheimers patient Salvatore too!

I don't think anyone truly wants to cause someone to lose their jobs but hopefully now REFS and PLAYERS both know that no one is above the law (cept shaq ) dang...we just want consistency ! and at the end of the day if your team won or lost it was because of the players not the refs!

Glad to see him go, but at the same this could have a negative effect. I just hope this doesn't give players a free pass to act like kids when they are sitting on the bench now.

Yes, because everyone knows you shouldn't have any fun when you play a game for a living.

WTF is that supposed to mean?

Most players ARE kids. Well, all but Horry and Finley.

I think the important thing is that stern said when a ref feels he is being mocked or a player is trying to bait him that they are instructed to walk away from the problem. Turn their head and walk away. Obviously Joey was looking for trouble not walking away from the problem.

Too bad they didn't get rid of him before he fixed the Detroit-Lakers finals series.

He joins Jake O'Donnell in NBA purgatory. You have to be extremely corrupt to get a corrupt fixer commissioner like The Fuhrer to suspend you.
Yeah, Kobe had nothing to do with the Lakers demise. Pistons were the better team that year. Live with it.

And by the way, THE LAKERS!

This is such poetic justice. Joey thought Timmy laughing at him was bad and now the whole world is.

What is it they say about karma?

Indefinitely is such an open ended term that he could only be suspended until the playoffs begin or until the start of the next round or the round after that.

It may seem unlikely, but it could happen that way.

Crawford gone is something all fans can appreciate. Stern got it halfway right: Salvatore should be pushed out and forced to "retire."

You guys seem to hate Salvatore and Dan Crawford. Why is that? I think Salvatore blew a call that may have cost the Spurs a game vs. Dallas last season, but, overall, I think he's a good ref.

    3) Hopefully Joey Crawford is back in the NBA next season. He's an NBA lifer and I think this might finally give him the humility that he needs. He's usually a pretty good ref ... when it hasn't come to Duncan.
I agree. Do you remember how bad Javie used to be?

Hopefully he'll be able to give us a few more good years of officiating...

Stern made it clear that he will not be back until next season. he is suspended through this years playoffs. After the season they will sit down and discuss his responsibilities.

Crawford's suspension will cover at least the remainder of the 2006-07 season, including the NBA Playoffs and Finals.

good move by Stern. you woulda had a bunch of people seriously (and legitimately) questioning the results of this year's playoff games, if Crawford had been assigned to a Spurs game

It was only good defense when Karl Malone was playing it and there were no whistles. It was overly physical bullying when Tayshaun was playing it and there were no whistles.

The words "tayshawn" and "bully" in the same sentence. That's good.

Crawford needs to realize the fans pay to see TD, not him. Is he out of his freaking mind when he says that Duncan was showing him up from the bench? I've watched tons of games in person and on tv, and I don't pay any damn attention to the bench but what's going out on the floor. I guarantee you nobody watching at home or in the arena was paying Duncan any attention at all. Crawford drew attention to something nobody was even aware of.
