Nellie has been around long enough to know how the league works. His team already has enough fines coming to it, no point in adding to the pile at this point.

Can I just say though, after a contentious game thread, how nice it is to see TPark and AHF come together about something? I'd feel warm and fuzzy if I wasn't still so nauseated by that GS/Dallas game.

Wow, Nellie remarkably composed about it all in post-game. Still looks like he either got hit in the stomach or is still drunk and beginning a hangover, but that's nothing new.
i think both players getting tossed was good for them

    now they're REALLY pissed.

i also think nellie was irked at the warriors immaturity. the warriors took a game from the top team in the league and have the next 2 on their home floor.

if i'm the mavs, i'd still be a little bit antsy, though avery avoiding small ball was huge

I'm now wondering about the very tongue in cheek comment by Nellie earlier about his team having a better chance of being struck by lightning than winning game 2. You know he saw this coming.

    Go Mavs Go. $igned, $tern.
Did you guys watch the same game? The Mavs got no calls at all up until the fourth...The Warriors lost their composure and end of story.

Also, I think we all know Stern hates the Mavs (at least Cuban).

I was pulling for the Spurs to take out the Nuggets, but why do 99% of Spurs fans hate the Mavs so much? Did you hate them that much before last years playoffs?

I always root for Texas teams, with Spurs being ahead of the Rockets on my radar, but I have never understood why all the hate...

Sorry I missed most of the drama; I quit watching right after the first 3 T's. Did Charles B. have anything to say in the post game? I did hear him comment on how Tim couldn't get even the most obvious calls.

I'd feel the same way if you took out the Mavs and inserted LA or Seattle or NOOK or Houston into that game. Horrible, terrible officiating.

But to answer your question - last year things seemed to get pretty personal between Mavs and Spurs. It's no longer a friendly rivalry - see AJ playing Dirk at the end of a game that was meaningless to the Mavs because the Spurs were winning. I'd be more likely to root for the Mavs if they aren't responsible for taking out my team.

Don't know what game some of you guys were watching. Davis was standing on the court, staring down the refs and clapping sarcastically for everyone to see. Sorry guys, but that's a textbook definition of showing up the officials. He complained and stomped around and shook his fists at every whistle, even after his fifth foul, which was a good call. I hope he takes it out on Dallas in the next game, but he was completely wrong.

Dallas were absolutely the more aggressive team down the stretch. If Diop went over the back then Harrington did on the very next play and neither were called. The jump ball call was wrong as was the travelling call on Harrington, though. Hardly the worst officiated game I've seen this playoffs. The NBA ed up by not fining Shaq for running his mouth. Baron is trying to act like he was victimized, but he knew exactly what he was doing.

By the way, if the Spurs go on to beat the Suns and the Mavericks, is it because the NBA wants the Spurs in the finals? If you are going to try to complain loudly now so you have an excuse later on for losing, you are no better than the Mavs fans you dislike so much. Funny that the same commissioner who took Timmy's side against Joey Crawford is suddenly the worst one in sports a week later.

The Warriors got Spured. I wonder how Mav Fan can even look herself in the mirror after watching a "game" like that.

You're right, the Mavs got no calls, that's why they shot 43 free throws.

    Thanks for the reality check.

You haven't been paying attention: 43 attempts is the Mavs fan definition of "bad calls both ways".

I don't have a problem with Baron's second technical. It was the first, the confrontation that was basically Jason Terry and Diop against Buckets, and somehow in it all Baron Davis gets a technical, but Terry walks away scott free.

But again, if you've been paying attention all these years you would have known going into this game that 1) Mavs would get at least 30 FTs (they got 43) and Bennett would show up to make sure it went in favor of Dallas.

Sad thing is Dallas had taken the lead and momentum at that point where the refs interjected themselves in the outcome, but now everyone who was watching knows what a farce the game turned out to be.

I haven't read this thread yet but what are the Mavs now with Salvatore as a ref in the playoffs? They have to be ridiculously good. Salvatore turns games into free throw contests (which is a statistical fact, so Mav Fan can't say otherwise), and the Mavs have historically been a very good free throw shooting team.

Salvatore games off the top of my head ... Game 1 in 2003 versus the Spurs (Mavs get 50 free throws), Game 3 in 2006 versus the Spurs (Mavs get 50 free throws) and now this game where the Mavs get 43 free throws.

If the NBA wanted to silence conspiracy theorists, a good place to start would be to not put Salvatore as an official in a must win game for the Mavs.

Word... not much to argue with there. But they dont get Salvatore to bail them out anymore.

I was watching this game going for the warriors of course. I really didn't feel like the warriors were getting as "sterned" as ya'll suggest. Baron started staring down the refs every call and then sarcastically started clapping after the foul call. The second tech was warranted, however the first tech he and Jackson received were not deserved. Jack was just running over to the commotion to get his players out of there. After the first set of techs Davis and Jack really lost their cool and acted like children.
