Mavs just tied the the all-time record (in any sport) for best start to a preseason after one game.
Don't hate.
Let them have their fun.
They don't have any fun in June.

The league should probably just go ahead and declare the 2007-08 season to be over.
Bata a Barea pump-fakes a defender and draws a foul
He's a pure offensive player; but can't defend
Barea would be an excellent back-up to TP..We can only dream though
Barea it's a fan favorite in Dallas
Bonner got credited with a block?![]()
Pretty sure they are cutting BArrea or D-Leagueing him if possible. Have to check their roster numbers, but pretty sure there is no future for him here.
It was actually a real block![]()
Not game related, but did anyone catch the Nuggets box score tonight? Camby had 18 boards in 12 minutes![]()
Last I heard, Barea was in the running to be their backup point guard. I don't think he's getting cut.
But we could hope.
Bonner with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Only attempted one three-pointer. It's preseason but gotta like that type of multifaceted production from Bonner.
Brent Barry!
He's coming out this season and going full blast. He's gonna avg at least 10 PPG on >40% 3PT%
I didn't expect us to win tonight. We are far from the season though. Should be a great season.
Mahinmi's stat lin looked respectable. Does he look like he might have a decent future with the Spurs (someday)?
You mean 3rd string?
I think Harris will start and JT come off the bench as a SG first, then slide over to PG when Harris needs rest. That's my gut feeling right now.
Either way, I think Harris and JT cover the PG duties barring injuries. Yeah, I guess they need a backup in case one of them gets hurt.
Too early to tell.
One thing, though, is the Spurs need to make him understand that he isn't an offensive option. A couple times Mahinmi tried to score in one-on-one situations. Mahinmi needs to realize his only role on offense is to dunk it when he's open or to try to score on offensive rebounds. That's it.
Defensively, his low block defense was pretty decent. His defense out on the floor needs work.
Earlier in the summer, the Mavs were talking about using Barea as the backup point. The Mavs had pretty much given up on the idea of using Terry as a point guard. However, Barea has supposedly had a poor training camp to date and that has changed some of their thinking.
Was LEver #10 tonight? He is listed as #6 no the roster I'm looking at.
They just showed two Mavs highlights with a slow looking #10 looking as confident as Beno on a bad day.![]()
Yeah, not impressing so far in camp:

DALLAS -- The preseason is an important time for Mavericks second-year point guard J.J. Barea.
Looking to break into the rotation on a team that can use bench help at point guard, the 6-foot Barea didn't receive a positive progress report Monday from coach Avery Johnson.
"Not real happy with him right now," Johnson said. "He's not playing very well. He's going to have to pick it up."
Barea, undrafted out of Northeastern last year, will get his chance when the Mavs play the first of eight preseason games tonight at the American Airlines Center against the defending champion San Antonio Spurs.
Barea had an encouraging stint on the Mavs' summer league team. In five games in Las Vegas, he averaged 14.4 points, 6.2 assists -- second in the league -- and 3.0 rebounds per game.
With Devin Harris starting at point guard this season and Jason Terry sliding to shooting guard, Barea could play his way into a meatier role than the 5.8 minutes he averaged in 33 games during his rookie season. Barea said Johnson has told him he wants him to play a bigger role this season.
"He expects me to be ready, so I've got to be ready," Barea said.
Johnson, a former undersized point guard himself, is known to ride his point guards hard. But Barea said he doesn't think Johnson was trying to tweak him by calling him out.
"He's the same as always," Barea said. "He's tough on point guards, and he's tougher on me because he's trying to make me better. I just have to take it and get better."
1st post of the season...I live in Dallas and got to watch it on HDNet. It was a tossup between the "game" and 12 O'Clock High that they are now showing on Tuesday nights so I watched alot of the game but man our scrubs looked horrible. I know, first night and most will never see the regular season but our scrubs looked real bad compared to the Mavs scrubs. Mahinmi looked awkward, he cant shoot; Washington and Williams looked like they were hyper horrible, couldnt shoot, pass or anything really. The other new guys were less than zeros. Hopefully the ones we have to keep will improve but two years after the draft that Mahinmi looked bad IMHO. Maybe we should have kept that Metzler guy from last year. Anyway, Bonner and Bones looked ok and our normal starters were fine. Very ugly first outing. That guy Bass from the Mavs looked pretty good too.
LJ, to play devil's advocate, I wonder if maybe Pop told Ian to shoot so he could see what the kid's got....
that kind of production should shut the up about scola
