If you do not pay taxes, wtf should you get a rebate??
It would be fairer if they just gave a flat percentage rebate, that way the oners that get ed every year likemyself, get more back....that is just one man's opinion.
Yeah I thought so too, but my idiot friend said it was passed by congress already. He said the amount was back up to 800, is that part true or is it 600 still?

Do you mean the kids getting money back?
As of yesterday:
http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080127/econo...ulus.html?.v=4
No, I mean that even those that did not pay any taxes are getting $300 back...that is ludicrous.Individuals who pay income taxes would get up to $600, working couples $1,200 and those couples with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. Workers who make at least $3,000 but don't pay taxes would get $300 rebates.
If you do not pay taxes, why should you get money from the govt???
Oh yeah I agree with you there.
I think it's more rediculous that the Senate is trying to make it so seniors on Social Security get them as well. Not only are most of them sucking this country dry of Social Security money they feel they are en led to, but now they will get $600 so they can just sit on it until they die. I know it's harsh of me to say, but studies have shown that most seniors saves 35-45% of their social security (why!?), they take this money because they can. There is no stipulation as to who can get social security. If a guy made $1,000,000 a year for 35 years, he still claims his SS, and now because he doen't claim any income other than intrest income, he can get $600. That is bull , that is why our country will have a forever largening (if thats a word) national debt- because we as Americans feel a sense on en lement and we want to pass on resposibility to others. It's in all of us; I'm 24 and am pissed that I pay social security, yet I will never see any money back from it and my country and employer expects me to open an IRA or manage a 401k, when we have people very well off taking money from SS for no other reason than "well I paid into it so I deserve it" Well if that is the case, than my generation is going to have a giant gripe when we hit our 60s. The baby boomers like to call my generation irresponsible, but these are the people that signed AR mortgages, and people that didn't save for retirement, not us. We need to start taking more responsibility and learn from prior generations' mistakes. Ok I'm done.
end rant
but I will seriously wanna kill someone if seniors get this rebate check because it will just further the truth that it is nothing more than a political move to make people feel that our goverment is working for us during an election year (b/c seniors hold a ton of voting power).
but atleast I'll get golf clubs, and I can enjoy them for a couple year until China comes and takes over our country overnight
oh, man ... n/m![]()

so does everyone, and come 2017, there will be nothing left of it. I pay into it because I don't have a choice, but I won't see a dime of it, the government wants me to set up my own retirement as well as fund others who didn't bother to do it themselves when they where my age. I just fell sorry for the people that are 40 something and will have paid into it since they were 16, and won't get a dime. You think we have problems now....ha... wait untill social security runs out and we find that nobody bothered to set aside money for retirement...talk about a recession
So I thought I'd bump this to break the news, I did my taxes this weekend, and the $600 they sent you last spring is just your tax return early. My return was $600 less just because I answered 'yes' to having accepted a stimulus check
So for those depending on a giant tax return, better go to plan B
well i didn't get the $600 so yay me.
I guess it doesn't really matter. I mean you and I each got $600 that was actually ours, except I didn't let the government hold it for 10 months
well there were those dbags that got it, and didn't even work last year
Yeah, I mean my return was big enough so I still got some money back despite that, but the people go got $600 and don't have a return amount to cover it are going to be upset when they get a bill for whatever the difference is
boo thread was from last year!
so i'm gonna have to pay 600 bucks more to uncle sam in april.
how gay.
not necessarily, if you do your taxes in February then that's when you have to pay them.
they just gave you money early they normally would have just sat on and given back to you this year. But they lied and didn't tell you where the money was coming from. They made it sound as if they were just handed everyone $600 and go spend it on stuff you didn't need. If they would have told you what it really was (an advance) people would have saved it and not spent it. If they were straight with you it wouldn't have served it's purpose.
This is kind of a good thing though. Putting that kind of money into circulation would be terrible for our future, which it looks like I said in this thread's original days
This is classic election year bull . They tried to make themselves look good for the election run, and pass the bad news onto the politicians who are just starting their terms in 2009.
It's the Rebate Recovery something or another. It's at the very end.
woohoo for not getting a stimulus rebate check last year!

uhm.
too easy.
haha. jerk.
I just got off the phone with a Tax guy and apparently Turbo Tax collects the extra $600 stimulus owed to you if you haven't gotten it. So in my situation, I just got a crappy return this year. You are not taxed by the federal government for the stimulus, but the state does tax you like 20%. So I was wrong
I thought so but thanks for scaring me nonetheless![]()
It's un-American to do your taxes before April 15th!!!![]()
i pay all my taxes on april 15.
i am self employed and dont give the government an interest free loan every year throughout the year.
so 600 bucks more i get to pay. thrilling.
