You remember that one kid in high school that would bring up something that took place in the 3rd grade? Some people take longer than others to grow up.![]()
So I'm fairly new to this site, and I really enjoy it, but I don't understand why SpursReport hates this forum so much. I really enjoy it here, but maybe something happend long before I got here that I missed?

All you need to know is you can type spursreport.com on this site.
You make your own conclusions.
Peter,
I was curious about advertising too. I wonder what they have planned in regards to TV/billboard advertising. As for beating out the Ticket 760 though, haven't the Ticket's ratings always been horrible? (Particularly the local shows). If that's the case, they will beat them out eventually - even just on word of mouth.

Is there a website that shows the ratings for radio? I've looked but couldn't find it. I've always wanted to confirm for myself that Chuck Parker is indeed the worst personality to ever go on the airwaves.
Paul Alexander every tuesday is gonna have Richard Oliver in studio and its a segment called Oliver's twist.
So theres another thing to look forward to as Richard Oliver is a pretty good journalist.
Oliver is an "Around the Horn" wannabe hack.
IMO

Alright, today is the day we get serious Spurstalk. Day 1 is done, the syllabus has been passed out, the proffessor has introduced his and herself, and the textbooks have been purchased.
Time for us to start edumacting SA on how to watch, critique, and live the Spurs.
I'm with ya mouse.![]()
I'm not sure what they have planned if anything. I know that they would like to promote the station, but it depends if they have the $ to do so. Which I doubt. I'm sure they told the sales staff that if the $ starts coming in, then we will see about putting some marketing behind it.
Keep in mind that the previous station had hardly any advertisers, so no matter what they did, they could outbill the old station.
The Ticket's ratings have never been horrible. It just that a Sports station won't ever be a Top 5 station in the market. Not unless there is another major sports team in town. And even then it would be a TALL order.
The local shows have actually done okay ratings wise. People have to understand that normally the posters on forums lean to expressing their negative views before the positive views.
In fact Mike Taylor in his first full rating books had the 2nd highest ratings ever of the Ticket's history in the PM time frame.
So, although posters here may not like him, his ratings were much better than we have had before. Even better than the Thompson Brothers! (Crazy right!)
Regarding beating the Ticket. I don't see it happening any time soon if ever. It will take them at least 2 years to come close.
Ticket has been there for 10+ years, and they still have the biggest Sports figure in the history of Sports Talk Radio, Jim Rome.
Just my opinion....
You don't think Vex/Walter's show pulling a 1 was horrible a few years back? The Ticket's ratings have never been horrible.
Most San Antonio sports fans I know (on and off the forum) think he's horrible. But just because people think you are bad, doesn't mean they don't listen. Sometimes they listen just to see how bad you are.I have only listened to him for 15 minutes since he started, so I don't know how bad he is. I don't really care.
But sports fans in San Antonio LOVES the Spurs. And if they can find more Spurs talk (no pun intended) at the ESPN show, they'll easily switch. Taylor will need to talk more Spurs to stay in the game a year from now.
(But , they'll probably switch hosts/formats for STSA within the year anyway - it never stays the same).
Just my two cents.
Can I plead the fifth?
Just trying to keep it real, Mr. Burns.
Personally, I like him. Yes, he does need some San Antonio seasoning to him, but that will come. He's a good solid host, and a really good guy off the mic, which is more than I can say about some people i've met in this industry.
Chris is brilliant for mobilizing the online communities. Knowing that they aren't going to get a bunch of marketing, and trying to spread through a guerrilla/viral marketing approach.
I look forward to having both stations here, as hopefully it creates more sports minded people.

My thoughts exactly.
Peter,Regarding beating the Ticket. I don't see it happening any time soon if ever.
You know I love you.
But mark YOUR words.
We're FROM SAN ANTONIO.
I've been to Spurs games in the Hemisfair Arena, the Alamodome and the (SBC) AT&T Center.
I've been to NIOSA (if you say Nee-osa you suck), Folklife and even Hemisfair '68.
Not only is the marketing coming, but an insane web presence that is unprecedented in this city is coming.
With Charlie Parker, I am the only guy who took an afternoon TALK show to #1 in the market among all listeners, 12+ and 25-54.
I love San Antonio, but I also love a challenge.
Write the date down in your diary. February 12, 2008.
The day Peter Burns said we would never surpass Ticket 760.
Game on, Holmes.

Peter hasn't had that kind of verbal spanking since Stacie grabbed her worn out pantyhose and left him for another hooters waitress.![]()
It has been a crazy couple of days at work, I will try to catch the show on the ride home (Downtown to 281/1604 is a solid 45 min drive at 5pm). Chris, I wish you the best and rock it out. Let Mr. burns eat his words and I'll standby to do the Heimlich, in case he starts to choke.![]()
Spurstalk's Spurs and NBA forums are among the best sources for NBA and insider Spurs information, but for years the people at the ticket, including the hosts, have acted like it doesn't even exist....enter Chris Duel and ESPN -- Spurstalk is on the radio the very first day....Kori, Mouse, even T-parK.....
....Ultimately, I think the station that succeeds will be the station that has the most comprehensive Spurs and Dallas Cowboy coverage....but with Duel, Alexander, and other 1250 hosts utilizing so many local insider SA connections, including some of the best sources here at Spurstalk....this horse race could be over before it even begins...
Chris, we not only support you, we want this show to blow up, and we want this show to be huge in SA.
We want when the national media wants the inside scoop on the Spurs when they are in the playoffs, to say "We need Duel, because he has his gosh darn finger on the pulse of the champions"
got damn.. all i am asking for is KISS to play some got damn music in the morning... lyle and hahn are fukin tired already.
