Curious that it didn't mention Temple, Gee or Jerrells as they are also guards.
That is only an uncertain opinion.
"The odd player out could be Hairston unless Neal is sent to the Austin Toros."
Without going back for quotes I get the impression that some think Hairston is better than Temple at guard.
Temple came in late and was impressive in some of the regular season games. He defended and shot well. He was rewarded with some minutes in 6 games of the playoffs and once again performed well.
Hairston on the other hand in two years never has seemed to me to perform up to the lofty heights attributed to him by some. He was waived in April of last year before the playoffs. And he never got off the pine during this year's playoffs. I'm not ever sure he was activated, but if he was, then why did he not play while Temple played with veteran poise?
There has been much talk of Temple being Pop's new favorite. You don't hear that about Hairston. It's "we know what he can bring to the table."
We also have seen that he isn't a shooter that will spread the floor. So If all he can bring to the table is hustle and "freakishly long arms" then the guy is definitely not at the top of the Guard backups and better watch his ass as to backup at SF.
I thought the consensus opinion was that Hairston is there to be back-up SF though? Guard comparisons irrelevant in that case

Neal and Anderson will cut into Hairston playing time because when we need a guy who can hit an outside shot then Neal get the nod over Hairston.
Also it depends on how well Jefferson plays but I can aslo see Bonner getting some time at the SF postion over Hairston.
Either way guys like Hairston and Gee are not going to make any impact on our team they are just scrimage guys.
Jerrells should just be let go he sucks as PG and I would not want the Spurs to waist a Toro spot on him. They should be able to find a true PG with more upside then him.
Bonner at SF would be the worst idea ever. I'd rather play micro ball with four guards and Bonner at center than see him anywhere near the SF position.

He was a nice player for us during the summer league. However, not worth a guaranteed contract just yet.
http://www.ridiculousupside.com/2010...sign-in-israelTyler Wilkerson To Sign In Israel If Spurs Don't Guarantee Him A Contract
Tyler Wilkerson, a rookie out of Marshall and one of several San Antonio Spurs' Summer League standouts, has agreed to a deal in Israel with defending champs Galil Gilboa according to Walla Sport.
The 6-foot-8 power forward averaged 11 points and 6.6 rebounds while starting three of the five Spurs games in Las Vegas.
Wilkerson showed to be an interesting NBA prospect in Vegas as he showed a strong motor in attacking the offensive glass as well as being a decent spot up shooter for his size. He doesn't seem to be able to do much with his back to the basket, but the Spurs have shown a knack for being okay with face-up forwards - especially if they're able to contribute on the glass as Wilkerson did in Vegas.
Wilkerson's best games came against Los Angeles - he played well against the Clippers (while matched up with lottery pick Al-Farouq Aminu) and the Lakers (he matched up with draft picks Devin Ebanks and Derrick Caracter in this game). Against the Lakers, Wilkerson scored 20 points and grabbed nine boards (four offensive) and then followed that up with a 12 point, six rebound and three steal performance against Aminu and the Clippers.
Interestingly enough, according to my usually accurate but loose-google-translation system, Wilkerson does have an out with the Israeli team if he's offered a guaranteed contract with the Spurs. The Spurs do seemingly have a need for a sixth big man, but it will more than likely come down to a training camp battle between Wilkerson and fellow San Antonio Summer Leaguers (and former Spurs draft pick) James Gist along with Darryl Watkins also an outside possibility.
I might have missed it but what ever happened to Tolliver? His value might be higher than a minimum contract but he might be nice as our 6th big. Although we would still be lacking some size and strength.
Tolliver would be nice...if for no other reason than he could potentially relegate Bonner to the bench if he plays well.

Josh Powell Signs with Hawks
The big man arrives from Los Angeles Lakers
The Atlanta Hawks have signed forward/center Josh Powell to a contract, according to Executive Vice President/General Manager Rick Sund. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Powell, a 6-9, 240-pound forward/center, joins the Hawks after two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he was a reserve player for the two-time World Champions. He tallied 3.4 points and 2.4 rebounds during his Lakers career (10.4 minutes per game), and connected on .409 of his field goal attempts.
“I look forward to joining a franchise I’m very familiar with,” said Powell. “The Hawks have done some great things over the past few years, and I think it’s great to come back home and play here. They’ve enjoyed success in the East, and while they have room to improve and grow, the nucleus is here to make that next step.
“Obviously, I followed the Hawks quite a bit growing up, and the excitement during the Dominique (Wilkins) years was a great thing to watch. We have to continue to get better and hopefully I can bring a little bit of what I’ve learned from my days with Lakers to the team.”
A five-year professional, Powell was a local product at Riverdale (GA) High School who played collegiately at North Carolina State. Undrafted in the 2003 NBA Draft following his sop re season at NC State, he spent several seasons in Europe before joining the Dallas Mavericks in 2005.
After one season with the Mavericks (2005-06), Powell split the next season between the Golden State Warriors (30 games) and Indiana Pacers (seven games) before landing with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2007-08. He brings 37 games of playoff experience to Atlanta, averaging 5.6 minutes per game.
Powell finished with averages of 9.7 points and 4.5 rebounds over his two-year collegiate career at NC State, with a 12.4 scoring mark as a sop re.
