Perhaps the clinic in SA could offer testing to exposed healthcare personnel who've been exposed but were refused testing by the CDC because they didn't meet the testing criteria.

Two points here: if the extent of the spread of the virus is undermeasured, the overall death rate will look higher; underdiagnosis may also cause higher mortality, cases will be missed, or treatment will start too late to make a difference.

Seems a political emphasis on public health preparedness and prompt, coordinated countermeasures can make a difference on how fast a disease spreads. It might also save a few lives.

It's not about stopping, it's about containment and slowing down the infection rate while we expand testing and develop a vaccine. Just trying to buy time. The last thing you want is to have a collapsing healthcare system because everybody is panicked every time they have a cough.

Frankly, the US is ill equipped to deal with a plan like that. Not because the tech is lacking, but because it's all about the money. While your average ST poster making 7 figures can certainly self-quarantine for 14+ days, your average worker isn't getting that benefit.
