I’m back from the game, and earlier before the worst of the wind kicked up, Bevo Boulevard was lit! Going to be an amazing year for my Longhorns in most sports, especially football! Hook em’

Evidently Luke Brockermire is a 3rd generation Longhorn, His grandpa is class of 63. I can’t see the twins going anywhere else. It’s one thing to disappoint mom and dad, but no one disappoints grandpa

    Delicate subject this legacy stuff.

Watching the younger rubber armed McCoy against TCU is something hard to forget.
Gary Patterson knew we had nothing and just played it out accordingly. Kicked a bunch of field goals and beat us taking zero risks. So I gotta hope they all turn 4 & 5 stars like the clearly legit possibly superstar sibling in the group.

I got a phobia after the Mack went grandpa.

The younger McCoy also beat Aggie in the last game between the two. I’ll never forget the late scramble. He was not a gifted athlete, but he had a big heart, and he was a good kid.

    Thoughts on the game.

    1. The wind was making it really hard to throw and catch the ball. I watched the first punt go up like a it was going 50 yards and then drop like a cannon ball. At first I thought it was just a bad punt then I noticed the flags next to the Jumbotron were flying one direction and flipping the other way in a matter of seconds. At one point the flag on the left side of the jumbotron was flying one direction and the flag on the right side was flying the opposite direction.

    2. Damn it was cold. When I walked outside at 11 am it was freaking hot so I dressed accordingly, I had no idea it would get so cold at 6 pm. I can only imagine how hard it was for our receivers to catch the ball. If you are wondering why so many bad passes and dropped balls, I'm pretty sure the wind and cold is most to blame.

    3. I'm going to watch the Spring game on TV to get a better Idea what happened with the offensive line, but my initial thought was they got whipped by the front 7. I'm not worried, I don't care what the reports are, we are going to have the best defense in the Big 12 and more than likely a top 25 defense next season, so watching our offensive line struggle didn't bother me. Let's also remember that immediate help is on the way with Parker Braun who happens to be one heck of an offensive guard he is going to make our line so much better on the interior because that is where we struggled the most.

    4. Jalen Green is going to be a player, I think we just found our 2nd corner to go opposite Anthony Cook. I'm pretty sure he could tell you the cologne Malcolm Epps was wearing. This nothing against Kobe Boyce who also made some good plays, but Green was a revelation.

    5. Defensive backs - I came away from this game thinking Texas has finally reached Alabama level talent in the defensive backfield. This isn't the cool-aid talking, the depth and quality of guys we have in our defensive backfield is scary, we literally have 6 dbs on the roster that have legit NFL caliber ability. Brandon Jones, Caden Sterns, BJ Foster, DeMarvion Overshown, Anthony Cook, Jalen Green, and we also have Josh Thompson and Kobe Boyce that might also have a shot. That is a deep and talented backfield.

    6. Our pass rush next year is going to be much better than last year, every time a QB dropped back to pass you could see the pocket collapsing around him. That isn't bad play by the offensive line, it's great play by the defensive line. I've been saying for a while we have a great dline coming back next year and I'm more convinced now that we are going to be really good up front on defense.

    7. DeMarvion Overshown - Mark my words, he is going to be a catalyst on defense. He is a safety in a linebacker's body. He is a guy that you can build the entire defense around. What I mean by this is that his size make him able to line up on the defensive line and rush him like a DE or cover over the TE on running plays. His speed is that of a Safety so he can cover the most athletic TE and RBs out there. He can play Safety and Linebacker and in the Big 12 he is going to be a guy that can alter the game plan of any offense.

    8. Casey Thompson - He was a revelation on offense yesterday. His passing was much better than I thought, but every time he took off to run I saw images of Cardale Jones. With him I saw the Ohio State offense that we all thought we had when Tom Herman arrived. I feel pretty good that when Ehlinger gets hurt we have a backup that is good enough to step in and get the job done.

9 We have a Shark sighting!!! Jeffrey McCulloch made some big plays yesterday, that is great news, as in he is finally playing like we all hoped he would when he signed with Texas 4 years ago. he is a guy that should be a leader on this offense next year especially with a very thin linebacking group. We definitely need his leadership.

10 Running game - I was disappointed in the running game because I was expecting more explosive plays out of this group, as great as it is to see Whittington and Ingram out thereI can't help but feel like we need a big back with power, that is what this offense is truly missing. In all, I think the running game will benefit greatly from adding Parker Braun to the offensive line.

One last note. This is an open message to Rafiti Ghirmai, over the next 4 months, no matter what else you do, please learn how to snap the football.

The Football Brainiacs are reporting LB Josh White of Cypress Creek made a surprise visit to campus yesterday after saying he wouldn't go to OU or UT's spring games.

He is hoping to get back on campus again soon with his mother.
