lol are you sure your son is a good server?
The point isn't to stop it, its to slow it down so that the health care system can keep up with it. What is happening in South Korea is an excellent example of this. Its akin to flood water management. You can't stop the flood waters from eventually making it to the ocean. That's simple physics. Its going to pass through. What you want, is to manage the flow of that water to keep it from overwhelming the flood controls you have in place. You don't want it to all come at once and overtop levees so you control the flow, slow it down, and manage it as much as possible.
Eventually most people in this country are going to get the virus. Its almost a certainty. It certainly can't be stopped. But that doesn't mean that we should all hold Coronva Virus Parties to get it over with. Letting the disease run rampant and spread as fast as possible is going to mean that our healthcare system will be overwhelmed and that 0.7 fatality rate will be much higher. That rate isn't some static number that is a law that can't be changed. Its dependent on the care available. Simple bacterial infections don't kill people in this country because we have antibiotics. Suppose we didn't, do the same mortality rates apply? Of course not. The mortality rate in SK is low because they have a much better healthcare system than we do and because they're controlling the spread amazingly well. Downplaying a .7% mortality rate is pretty insane as well but what do you expect from certain people.
The good thing for the US is that we can see what they're doing and put it into play. The bad thing for the US is that there's zero indication that the federal government is interested in pushing social distancing. Trump literally said yesterday in his press conference that he wanted people to travel. The good thing for the US is that these situations are currently happening in places with good leadership at the state and city level that understand what a ing cluster the feds are currently and are taking it into their own hands. But this won't happen everywhere.
SXSW being cancelled looked to some like an overreaction when it happened. Lets see how many think that in 2 weeks to 1 month.
lol are you sure your son is a good server?
That this virus is nothing to turn your nose up at and we need to take it serious.
My son worked summers as a waiter and tips were the only way it made it half way worthwhile. Granted it’s a crappy, exploitative system but fact is it is what it is and not a power trip by the customer but an acknowledgement to the person waiting on you that that’s how they make their living and you’re generous enough to help. Question wasn’t directed specifically at you but everyone including those calling for equality. Do they walk the walk or just talk the talk.
It does appear, from this CDC graph, that South Korea has been successful in bending the epidemic curve.
If prompt and robust education, containment, paid sick leave, and public aid to health care infrastructure are political, it would appear politics does make a difference in outcomes.
20% percent for adequate service, more for good service.
If a server sucks, they get 15% on the nail from me.
They split tips. Some Spurs players use to eat there. They were the worst.
I aint gonna lie these videos are scary as
wish I could unsee them
leave Sean Hannity out of this!
Guessing Manu is part of "they"![]()
this wont work w coronavirus
if theres community spread in your workplace and it can be proven you did not take precautions, to expect to be sued heavily and have to pay at least lots of lawyer fees
We already know Trump isn't going to do to help the working poor when they get sick and need to self quarantine. Doesn't make sense that it should be the business owner's fault when their workers can't eat off of thoughts and prayers.
https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/healt...n-rate-withoutThe steady decrease in cases has been attributed to a variety of factors, including mass testing, improved public communications and the use of technology. Extensive testing of members of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which was linked to more than 60 per cent of the country’s cases, has been completed.
South Korean officials have shared their experiences in containing the outbreak, saying that citywide lockdowns, as imposed by China in Wuhan, where the outbreak originated, are difficult to enforce in an open society.
China also introduced strict social distancing and extensive monitoring of citizens and ensured their adherence to preventive measures with punishment and rewards, resulting in a significant drop in the number of new cases.
“Without harming the principle of a transparent and open society, we recommend a response system that blends voluntary public participation with creative applications of advanced technology,” South Korea’s Vice Health Minister Kim Gang-lip told journalists.
That ain't happening in the US ...
but think about it. you are a bussiness owner and have 1 guy sick. you have the option to give him some sick leave or risk getting yourself and entire company infected.
what would a smart business owner do?
Im not saying give all your employees free sick leave lol
they would have to provide drs notes
Your wage slaves are likely to cover up their sickness as long as they can because they can't afford to miss one paycheck.
a good business owner would provide at least 2 week paid leave under a pandemic tbqh
sure some businesses cannot afford even that especially if not producing income. but those are the risks of owning a business tbqh
Yeah right at that happening in the McJobs economy.
We're you around when I posted the manu tip story? Lol
Yeah thats why pointing to SK death rates is really not appropriate here. Our response has been really bad so far at the federal level. We had a period of time where we knew what we could do based on other countries having to deal with it first, and honestly that time was simply wasted. The longer they wait the worse its going to be.
ah man made viruses
But hey what can you do
Italy just suspended mortgage payments for small firms and households. They don't want a sick and quarantined nation to end up homeless or their businesses bankrupt as a result.
Here, unthinkable.
