Etiquette question:

My personal limit is 10 minutes. After 10 minutes I just tell them to get the over it and hang up.

It was a combination of the both. More shooters then shots. So, yeah. Y'all call my bull . Blah blah blah.
Emily Post and I would say that it depends upon the nature of the call. If you have received essentially the same phone call at least twice in the last two weeks, then you are only obligated to either a) listen for five minutes or b) find out if it's important enough for them to leave a voicemail. If b is true, then you are bound to the 5 minutes rule, but if no progress has been made since the last call you are free to make excuses after 5 minutes. Excuses like, "I'm sorry, but I have to go, I've heard this before and there is sex/food/booze in the other room waiting for me."
Well, I put up with it for a little longer than that since it was technically a semi-argument/discussion and not just whiny venting.
Ah, yeah, if it's an argument that's a little different. I tend to get a lot of similar ing/whining type calls, so I've gotten used to giving those time limits, but if it's a personal disagreement then I would give it enough time to try and resolve it - 15 minutes? If you're not going to make any progress after that then what's the point? You're both going to end up pissed off.
I need to work on that.
