the interest of protecting private, sensitive information outweighs prosecutorial interest without a legitimate purpose

    no fishing

. The information sought herein (names, addresses, phone numbers, emails) is private and sensitive, so much so that should a private company fail to protect such information from electronic thieves, such company would most likely be sued in a data breach class action lawsuit. Thus, everyone, whether you support the President or you do not, or whether you believe the 2020 Election was fair or believe that it was not, should be concerned about the DOJ’s ability to utilize the power of the Grand Jury to appropriate your private information without a legitimate purpose.

illegal voting is fine when Republicans do it

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton appears to have used an address where he did not live while voting in six elections in the past two years — despite warning voters that “it is illegal to misrepresent your residence on election records.”

Despite his own warnings, Paxton appears to have used an address where he did not live while voting in six elections in the past two years, including in May’s runoff that made him the Republican nominee for U.S. senator, according to records obtained by ProPublica and The Texas Tribune.

State Sen. Angela Paxton said in a 2025 divorce filing that Paxton, whom she accused of adultery, moved out of their Collin County home a year earlier. But Paxton continues to list the home’s address in the northern Dallas suburb on his voter registration. Angela Paxton declined to be interviewed. A source close to the Paxtons said the attorney general has not moved back into the home since leaving.

The Election Assistance Commission, formerly an independent US agency, is now subject to presidential control after Trump v Slaughter

Trump just fired all four members, rendering it ineffective four months from midterm elections

In related news, the Federal Election Commission lacks a quorum this year because Trump refuses to appoint another commission. The FEC is powerless to fulfill its congressional mandate.

The EAC was created by Congress after the 2000 election to help states improve election administration without federalizing elections. Its role is mostly supportive: distributing federal election funds, maintaining the national mail voter registration form, testing and certifying voting systems, and offering best practices and guidance to state and local election officials.

Trump cannot simply install replacement EAC commissioners on his own. Commissioners must be nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate, and no more than two can come from the same party.

    a very hopeful view

“It’s an open question about the EAC and the [Federal Election Commission],” said Rick Hasen, an election law professor at UCLA. “The question has not been tested as to whether political en ies created with bipartisan balance might be subject to another exception.”

    hanky-panky in a form-fitting dress

The EAC has been without a quorum before. For years, vacancies rendered the agency unable to perform major parts of its work, contributing to long delays in updating voting-system guidance. The agency regained stability only after the Senate confirmed new commissioners in 2019.

Now, with the 2026 election cycle underway, the agency is again frozen — this time not because commissioners resigned or terms expired, but because the president removed all of them at once.

Trump fears a wipeout in the midterms, so he's going to squeal loudly about election fraud to create a pretext to try to overturn any election Republicans lose

There could be voter roll purges in red states and swing states before we're done

voted for Trump twice in 2020, once in PA once in FL

Laiss was sentenced today to 6 months under house arrest, and three years of probation, for voting twice for Trump in 2020. Laiss did not plead guilt and this case went to a jury; DOJ sought 3-6 months imprisonment so he'd be ineligible to vote in November.

Matthew Laiss had unsuccessfully argued that Trump's pardon of persons accused of fraud around presidential electors covered him too.

Here's what's going to happen tonight: the world's most famous sore loser will deliver a prime-time presidential sour grapes address to pursue his 6-year-old grievances about the 2020 election, while his war in the Middle East spirals out of control & the cost of living continues to rise..

    another Republican cheater

Kelly Giles, the chairman of the Randall County Republican Party, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of attempted election fraud, a Class B misdemeanor. He was originally charged with election fraud, which is a felony.

Giles received deferred adjudication and was sentenced to six months probation. He was also fined $2,000 and ordered to perform 25 hours of community service.

The deferral means this conviction will not appear on his record after completion of those requirements.

good on the Texas SOS, admitting that thousands of valid voters may have been struck erroneously from Texas voter rolls

Texas shouldn't have quit ERIC, tbh

Election officials across the state should immediately reinstate some voters who were incorrectly flagged as potential noncitizens through a federal program, the Texas Secretary of State’s Office told county officials Wednesday.

Christina Adkins, the state elections director, told county officials the state had reviewed Texas Department of Public Safety records confirming the citizenship of some of the 2,724 registered voters who were flagged as potential noncitizens, according to an audio recording of her comments obtained by Votebeat and The Texas Tribune, as well as election officials who heard them. The voters were flagged after the state checked its voter roll through a federal program called Systematic Alien Verification for En lements, or SAVE, used to verify the citizenship of people registered to vote.

Adkins said the state is still working through the data and that she couldn’t yet say how many of the 2,724 people had provided proof of citizenship to DPS and should thus be reinstated if they were already removed from the voter roll. She characterized SAVE as having “some inaccurate information” but added that “most of the data that we got out of SAVE was consistent with what DPS had.”

According to election officials, the secretary of state’s office said it plans in the coming days to send voter registrars additional information from DPS showing some of the flagged registered voters had in fact provided proof of citizenship to DPS while registering to vote or obtaining a driver’s license or state ID.
