If I had a choice between Millsap and Kirilenko, I'd take Millsap. I'm intrigued by Kirilenko, but I can't deny that it would be at least somewhat of an awkward fit. He doesn't really have the strength to defend PF's consistently nor the shooting to be a stretch four. Millsap, on the other hand, would be a seamless fit.
Precisely why Kirilenko is a fit. His ability to defend small ball and wings plays better with the biggest current threats to the Spurs.

Sure, Millsap is better at guarding legit 4s - but post defense isn't his biggest strength to begin with. And there are only a handful of "big teams" across the league to contend with - and the Spurs have already figured them out with the Duncan/Splitter starting lineup. Diaw holds up okay in the post & Baynes is there I.C.E.

But having another big wing with perimeter skills to go up against the Miami, OKC, & GSWs of the league is a bigger need with the way the roster is currently constructed. Especially when you consider that Kawhi is our only legit 3, and he's had to deal with some injuries already in his young career.

I love Iggy to the Warriors. He can drive and defend, which is something that the Warriors lack right now. He's also a good play-maker for his position, and that helps a team out when their starting point-guard is really just a small two-guard.

Provided they didn't give anyone up in the trades to Utah and Denver? Probably Barnes. Thompson is too good of a shooter, and Iggy is too good to put on the bench. A Barnes/Jack-led second unit could be really good.

I too like the deal for GSW.

On the flip side, while I'm not a big Jack fan, renouncing him lowers the odds that Curry gets through the season healthy quite a bit below what they would be with him on the roster.

With so many dogfights in Western games upcoming, they're going to ride him into the ground if they don't find a way to add another PG.

The GS/Utah deal makes it also more interesting for Utah to take De Colo in a salary dump move. They have very little cap space left and using it on a relatively young player with a friendly contract would a good move for them.

Hack-a-Howard is an even greater net-positive move on the Warriors. 50% for 1pt or multiple people that can shoot 40%+ for 3pts.

Who comes off the bench in GS?
David Lee, if I was coaching them. But probably Klay because he can take over some of the ball handling/play making duties with Jarett Jack gone.

Yeah, I know; but this is not like the past two seasons. Though they're the most likely candidates, the Thunder and Heat, if healthy, aren't assured of being in the Conference Finals and Finals. The Thunder because they've clearly taken a step back and the Heat because of three straight Finals appearances catching up to them. Against plenty of other potential playoff opponents (Clippers, Grizzlies, Warriors, Timberwolves, Pacers), he'd be an awkward fit. They could just start Splitter, but still.

And Millsap would be an excellent fit against the Heat too (less so against the Thunder, as Ibaka's length and athleticism would probably give him fits), because he would punish them for playing small and if James had to end up guarding him, 1) That means he'd have to expend a lot of energy banging down low and 2) That means he can't slide over to Parker. He's also a much better mid range shooter and rebounder than Kirilenko, too.

Why are they renouncing him? They should still be over the cap (especially if they want to be), so they're probably just going to trade with Denver. If that's the case, they can re-sign Jack and Landry and remain below the tax.

Reports are that Denver refused a S&T, so GSW will sign Iggy with cap space. That could change before the 10th, but that's the latest reporting.

Yeah, Spurfan should hope that Howard signs with the Rockets. It's the move that keeps all 3 of those teams behind the Spurs.

Howard staying in LA isn't bad either but him going to GS without giving up Klay or Barnes is bad news.

He's already made up his mind. If the Lakers are behind, they're staying there.

They don't seem to have cap space to sign Iggy outright. Best-case scenario, they have $10.5 Million in cap space. And that's before they lost another $1.5 Million to roster charges. Unless the deal is a lot smaller than I saw it to be, I don't think it will fit.

    Dwight Howard is insufferable.
