I feel your pain about Mavs fans... funny thing is, I have been a Cowboys fan since I was a fetus.. so it never occured to me... until last season, during the playoffs.. GOD!!! those Mavs fans were the worst mother ers who ever came here! I mean, beyond comprehension! I got emails to me personally... calling me a , telling me i was as good as dead... what the ?!?!I wouldn't mind Hicks laying out the money for a good player. Like next summer if he lands Vernon Wells for Soriano money, I'd take that over giving Gary freakin' Matthews freakin' Jr. $50. Spend big, but spend wisely.
Of the main FA's still out there, I most like Zito. But if his pricetag goes over $75M, I'd step away.
Part of the reason I've distanced myself from the Rangers is I hate Dallas fans. Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks ... they all suck. Part of me wouldn't be happy if the Rangers won a world series because that would bring joy to Mav fans.
But yeah, I started following baseball hardcore first. Starting with the '88 world series up until the '94 strike, I was baseball fanatic. But that '94 strike killed me because my Expos were going to win the championship that year. That was a freakin' wicked team. Best record in the league and they weren't even play up to their capabilities yet. That was one of the best teams I've ever seen.
And the Rangers of that era were damn cool. '89-94 I probably watched 90% of Rangers games. I was Jeff Frye's number one fan.
Maybe one day i'll watch baseball again but that won't be until the economics of the game is fixed.
But as sure as I admit to those things, I will say that there HAS to be a few really dedicated rangers fans up in the metroplex... i have gone to rangers games and at least 1/3 are from the area... why are you such assholes?!?!? that is all i have to ask..
