It will be tough to get a win there. They want blood.

What tv station is the game being broadcasted...
BeIN Sport in the USA
It's on European streams as well.
end of 1st half we are down 2-1 and lucky to be close. The defense has been horrific.
Altidore on.
We are controlling this half.
Time to score.
I thought they recovered but man without MB90 our midfield looked REALLY REALLY bad. I don't think Jermaine Jones never recovered but I do think Jeff Cameron looked better. Tonight really convinced me that JJ is made to look serviceable by Bradley but Cameron is the better of the two.
Fabien Johnson needs to move to LB. DMB was just destroyed back there tonight and didn't really get into the attack. I don't think he can be the WC solution and as much as I like FJ in the MF I think he's our best solution back there.
Jozy was just stupid. Not sure what happened to Beasler but he had a terrible night too. I thought Howard didn't play great either - was amazed he didn't come off his line on the final goal.
Whatever though. Mexico is a huge mess so we just need to take care of business on Tuesday and we'll be fine.
We were way too compact in the attack, with Fabian and Zusi both tucked way too far inside, forcing Orozco and DMB to both push forward to provide width, and they both got burned on the counter repeatedly. While I think Gonzo and Besler can both be long-term players at CB (with one of them eventually giving way to JAB), they both struggle with speed, and that's what CR brought right at us.
With Bradley out and Besler, Cameron and Jozy suspended, Mexico is looking like much more daunting match. They'll be riding an emotional high wanting to perform for their new coach.
In the long-run, I think this will put an end to Jurgen's tinkering at fullback, make him move Fabs to LB full-time and finally get on the ball with getting Chandler on the same page or Lichaj into camp.
I think this should be our lineup on Tuesday:
-------------Guzan--------------
--Parkhurst--Gonzo--JAB--Fabs--
------Beckerman--Jones---------
---Lando---------------Clint-----
----------EJ-----Iceman---------
Kind of a 4-4-2 empty bucket. I think this is the best defensive team we could put out (the exile of Maurice Edu hurting us now). Maybe put in Mix if Beckerman or Jones struggle. Bedoya is your supersub.
On the bright side... at least we can still clinch on Tuesday and we're not a team struggling to stay out of 5th who just fired their manager.
I'd go with the same formation we've had.
I think your backline is fine but no way Jurgen sits Howard, IMO.
I think its a mistake to start EJ. Definitely should still start Zusi. Probably still keep Landon up front and I'd go with Mix or Bedoya on the left. If they want to start AJ then put Landon on the left and keep Dempsey in the withdrawn location.
If Altidore hadn't gone full re last night I would be saying we should sit Dempsey.
Well, there's their Snow Game revenge (along with their thorough pounding of our asses).
Problem with the same formation we've had (4-2-3-1) is that we don't really have anyone else capable of playing that hold-up, target forward role that Jozy plays. Dempsey in that role proved to not be successful last match. Johannsson isn't even that type of player, so I don't think it's as easy as putting him there and having Clint in the hole.
If we want to stay like that, I'd say something like this:
---------------Guzan-----------------
--Parkhurst--Gonzo--Goodson--Fabs---
------------Mix-----Jones-------------
---Zusi-------Lando-------Bedoya-----
--------------Clint--------------------
Tell Mix to do his best MB90 impression and hope Jones can stay disciplined for ones and stay in a destroyer/CDM role instead of his natural tendency to plow forward. Give Landon the freedom to play flat up top with Clint, so that we are basically a 4-1-3-2 on attack. I like Bedoya on the left flank, especially paired with Fabs, who can overlap with some discipline. The key will be for Parkhurst to stay at home, which is a little against his nature as he likes to overlap as well.
Yes, I know Jurgen is unlikely to bench Howard... but he needs to. For all the preaching he does about having compe ion at every position, I don't think Brad has been given a fair shot and has been the better GK for the last year both for Club and Country.
Mexico is going to be fired up on Tuesday. We need to withstand that initial 15-20 minute surge from them and then if we play our game we will be in good shape.
