Good point. His basketball IQ has gotta be off the charts compared to Blair. I'm hoping this relegates Blair to 10 min a game at MOST. It will be interesting to see how Pop does the lineups now especially going into the playoffs.
Good signing and should help out our front line and depth a lot. Well done FO.

NICE SIGNING. 6"8 beats 6"5.

here is official press release: http://www.nba.com/spurs/news/120323_diaw
hopefully blair becomes fifth big and plays 0 mins a game
Some random Diaw thoughts:
-Congrats to Bruno for the signing of Diaw. He was pimping Diaw before he blew up with the Suns (figuratively not literally) while I may or may not have said he sucked
-Even if Diaw is great the rest of the way, do you give him a long-term contract? I'd hesitate because of the cap room the Spurs can open and I'm not sure that I trust him to stay in shape. He sure didn't last time.
-Diaw kinda reminds me of Horry because they are both former perimeter players who eventually moved to power forward. Horry was a point forward in college and even got compared to Magic Johnson at times. Diaw was a giant point guard in Europe.
-I'm really interested to see if Pop will be able to live with Diaw passing up open shots. It's going to happen because Diaw has always done that. Pop has always hated it. It's going to be interesting to see who wins that battle of wills.
-Warning to Spurs fans: You will probably hate Diaw at first. He's definitely an acquired taste as a basketball player. His best traits are his passing and smarts ... and that takes a while to shine through.
I'm not convinced of the fit but I'm excited to see if it will work![]()
When you look at the rotations, Pop starts Blair but sometimes he will sit the rest of the half, or get minimal minutes after coming out.
IMO, its only a matter of time before someone else starts and Blair does get 0-5 min a game
Does diaw rebound?
Does he hustle on defense?
If the answers to those are yes, I don't care if he's passive on offense
nice move.![]()
is he able to play tonight?
Using Twitter #'s in anything except Twitter immediately makes your thawts nonsense
Wow... love the moves this team is making!
All I care about is his playing smart, solid defense at this point.
Don't know why, but my hunch is that Diaw will wear #34.
Diaw also fits in the starting lineup better than Blair or Bonner, and given past experience, I can't imagine Pop starting Splitter next to Duncan, so we'll probably see Diaw start in a few weeks.
Why is gregzilla still allowed to post
Is he a good counter to legitimate bigmen on other teams? I think strictly what is needed in the playoffs at this point. As I see it the Spurs still have to shoot their way into winning playoff games once the lane gets shut down for TP.
Didn't someone say he was like Bonner?
Awesome, now peace out Blair!![]()
As far as Diaw having a bad season . . .
Jack was having his worst season too . . .
At least so far Jack looks like a different player in a Spurs uniform.![]()
I love it! He has a month to lose 10-15 lbs. Pop needs to whip him into shape!
So even if he doesnt play tonight will he still be on the bench with the team?
