like others have said, it comes down to an age thing. you strike me as someone in his early 40s, so your friends meeting people online wouldn't be that much out of the norm but if you're doing it at age 20 it might be time to step away from the computer. 20 year olds are supposed to be in college, having fun, and exploring the world around them not meeting strange people online who you know nothing about. When you meet a person in real life, usually there are more clues about them as to what kind of person they are. Someone on the internet you don't have that luxury, you know nothing about htem or if what they're telling you is even true, their sexual history, etc.
I believe Manny/Jekka and LJ/KE have had ample time to find out about each other tbh.

that's the thing, all the time in the world knowing someone online isn't the same thing as actually knowing that person in real life.

IDK. I think you're about to have a whole new crop of 20 year olds who have been communicating almost exclusively by text and email for the last several years. Some of these kids have no real communication skills at all and are completely socially inept.

Well, I'm in my early 30's.

I don't disagree with you, meeting women is easy, I never understood people that have trouble with it.

However, there are plenty of guys that don't know how to talk to women, and these guys might very well be good dudes, and I would imagine the internet makes it a lot easier for them to talk too.

Furthermore, it seems that your argument is one based only on age and you think just because your generation finds it odd, so should then every generation.

I'm 32, I think skinny jeans are ing gay.....you may like them.

I still don't see the issue with someone meeting their significant other online.

    Someone explain?
    There is no issues.

Thousands have met through the internet and even have married and are still together to the date.

Only posters that have some sort of issues here are trigger and mavs>spurs and perhaps Lincolm now?

    Perhaps all narrow minded people.

, these are the same guys that have issues with the gays and all those touchy subjects that brings their masculinity into question.

it seems like kids, errr young adults, these days spend a load of free time on the internet. Which I would think would make online dating less trivial, no???

skinny jeans up your balls and sperm count brah, is gay. some things are generational, others are universal. tbh i think this is one of those things that seems pretty universal to me but i guess could be generational to some. if you're a 45 year old recently divorced man who works 60 hours a week, yeah you might struggle finding someone so i can understand it in certain instances.

This is also a flaw in your logic. Internet dating didn't even exist when I was in college and I lied to girls all the time when I was at the bar and they lied to me.....

I disagree though. Career orientated people, especially in their 20's, often work longer hours then most people. At the end of the day, they may be too ing exhausted to still go out and pull strange.

    is still tiring.

no but i mean at some point, once they actually decided to transition from the internet to real life there is that awkward meeting where sure you "know" the person but you don't really know them at all. it's like starting all over again for the first time. sounds like a risk that only a very veryyyyyyyyyyy desperate person would go out of their way to fly cross country and take. they either got somewhat lucky, or they were just both desperate and forced it.

i had a "friend" one time and i use that term very loosely who met women online. he was a weirdo who i wouldn't otherwise know if he wasn't my neighbor for 20 years and found all his gf's online because he was pretty much picked on in school and couldn't get a girl there. he also has some weird psychological issue about being terrified to be alone so if he gets dumped he will drop his life, quit his job or job search whatever he happens to be doing at the time, and go online 24/7 until he finds another internet girlfriend. s just weird man.

it's also easier to detect a lie in person and there are also those other nonverbal cues that you wouldn't get if you were online. you wouldn't have the luxury of knowing what kind of people they hang out with at the very least which could tell you a lot.

    .

What about those people on a dating website that just meet for a first date? It's really no different then being set up on a blind date....I would imagine that it's actually less awkward.

    truth bomb

Going to parties and seeing how much ridiculous I could come up with and pass off as truth is fun as . Idk how many people I've convinced that I'm the backup middle linebacker on UA's football team. I've encountered just as much lying and bull ting at bars as I have anywhere else. I know someone who's a political sciences major and tells girls he's a major on Aerospace Engineering and has a job offer that pays $150k right out of college

Yeah I've been single for about a year now (by choice) but even when I was with my gf whom I'd known since high school, I still posted on here. It's not hard whenever you take 40+ credit hours in the past year, going to school year round and in summer in order to catch up and graduate. You spend so much time in class bored out of your mind you post from your laptop or smartphone, or when you're not with your gf.

It really isn't hard to post and maintain a normal life, every college age kid here I know does it.

online you also don't get the chance to really converse with them impromptu. Everyone has time to type, think, edit, retype, check a Thesaurus, etc. Unless they are a total moron, everyone can come across smarter than they really are.
