That's Batman when he is old and retired. That's his armor needed to beat superman.
Ok so the story of this is that Batman is like 50-60 years now. He doesnt have what he once did, and he needs this suit to still be batman. Superman is his friend but kind of betrays him for the President and the US. That robin chick thing is kinda too complicated to get into but shes not robin, robin is dead and she does that to inspire Batman to return.
Honestly, if you can download the torrent, the two part film of Dark Knight Returns was surprisingly awesome.

Meh. Don't care for this superman since man of steel was a piece of and ruined that actor for me.
I have to say, that is one ing epic trailer. DC ain't ing around when they say their stuff is a lot more darker than Marvel and so far, they're staying true to their words. Maybe I'm a bit burned out by Cap and the Avengers, but I'm far more excited about this one than any Marvel release until Black Panther and Infinity War comes out. And that Batsuit

I'll watch this if only to see how much of The Dark Knight Returns material it uses. It would be very interesting if they try to put some version of Carrie Kelley in there,with all that would imply for Batman's other sidekicks.
I don't know how the all the other heroes are going to fit into this other than the godlike ones coming out of the woodwork to take notice of the alien that destroys cities. It will be easy enough to retcon a building falling on Vic Stone during the Kal/Zod battle in MoS to facilitate his origin
I like the dark tone of the movie. Should be a good watch.
Pretty much all of the Batmans are of darker tone, or at least try to be. Unless it was the 60s series, it was all moody and "dark".
Clooney's Batman with the laser light shows was as corny as the 60s show.
Kilmer tried to be somber and dark but Jim Carrey's Saturday morning cartoon Riddler blew it
