He is not a max player. The Spurs don't even know if he is their #1 or #4 option. I ing love Kawhi but he's way too inconsistent to get close to 20M a year. This looks like the Dragic situation, he's also not a max player but a stupid team will give him the money.

As many have said before, there is a difference between a max player and franchise player. The market says Kawhi is a max player so he will get paid like a max player.

100% of the people who understand restricted free agency know kawhi will be paid the max. You can argue he doesn't deserve it, and you'd likely be wrong.

That doesn't address the only point I made in my post. In the game the other night, KL backed Lebron down in the paint, got fouled (not called), and still made the basket. Marion can't do that. So even if you believe that Marion = Leonard on everything else (which it doesn't), the fact that KL potentially has that kind of game down low puts him way ahead of Marion offensively.
