I, personally, don't take an ounce of anything from this game except that I wouldn't start Simmons, unless upon severe emergency, and my frustration grows with Mr Anderson.

Both Anderson and Simmons are currently suited to come off the bench. Having Danny out to start the season really skews everything. His D is going to change things, when he comes back. If he's hitting 3's like he was in last season's playoffs, it will help keep defenses from collapsing on Tony. But even if he's shooting .350 from 3P, the starting lineup is going to be a lot saltier. And Anderson/Simmons will look a lot better against second unit players. Hopefully Pop can get the guys settled into some more-regular rotations, and we don't have to have some of these discussions.

    Poignant.
    Honest.
    And True.

Zero argument from me. I await Danny's return with bated breath.

Then we'll have brand new, all industrial, with bleach alternative discussions to bear down upon.
I expect tons and tons of emoticons from dabom, my brother from many other a mother.

All good points. I still don't really know about the timetable for Danny's return, or I'd circle the date on my calendar. And that also means I don't have any idea how long it might take him to get into game shape. I just hope he returns quickly and returns to good Danny-form equally quickly.

Until he comes back, we're going to be watching guys not as good as him in the SL. People can get as freaky as they want about it, but the bottom line is that Pop would field the best lineup if the players were all available.

But I suppose I'm second-guessing Pop, too, because I think the experiments with Lee as a small-ball C are doomed. I actually like Lee on the floor with a legit big man. But I'm pretty well convinced that he's not going to hold down the middle on his own. I understand why he wants to do it with the current roster. But that's why I think they would be better off with another big, even if it means losing Forbes.

I guess I should take my own advice and go apply for Pop's job. It looks easy enough from where I sit.

Plenty easy until Ime tugs on my coat sleeve to stir me out of a mesmerized stupor, asking incredulously, "Don't you want to call a time-out after that run?!"

Actually I am watching some sections of the game again. Lee was horrific on defense. There were a lot of screens set on him and he's a big, he is going to get caught in every screen and not go over or under... The Spurs were zoning and it didn't work.. they were also were switching on every screen and that left plenty of mismatches. The heavy collapses in the paint were over a guard attacking a mismatch very often. The Spurs defense was terrible. LMA ended up in the perimeter plenty of times too.

There was a lot of experimentation in the game and it wasn't just lineups... the defense was a weird scheme, but coach Snyder attacked everything Pop threw out there.

The kind of game that guys will watch and learn from, hopefully Pop too.

I suspect Danny will have no effect on Tony, but he will improve them defensively and that is a start. Tony will have to catch a rhythm on his own. I have that Novena going as you know. lol

Nobody to blame, tbh..just a fluky, meaningless early-November game..

FYI, last season, teams that made >15s on 48+% shooting went 57-9..tough to win when a team is raining 3s..
Thank you. I had no idea how to look that up, but I knew it didn't happen often. 66 out of 1300 games is pretty rare.

the game was as "meaningless" as the Warriors game to start the season ... there the Spurs shot like the Jazz did ... both things are not sustainable in a 7 game series I guess

I didn't know it was the record, but I'm not surprised. "Disgusting" indeed.

LMA for looking so bad in his matchup with Blake, especially in the first half when Clips won the game. Kawhi and Patty so inefficient 1-7/3-13...

For once I see ElNono eye to eye... I was complaining about the bad defense in the game thread and it started from there. TD is missed.

Anybody's wet dream of trading LMA for BG is out the window with tonight's performance.

Every time some team goes off on SA, and they all do at times, it's the end of the world and Spurs are done.

Truth is Spurs are a 2nd round team still. Getting them to the WCF will require injury somewhere and health somewhere else. As long as Parker is starting at PG and Manu is still the best bench player, Spurs aren't going anywhere. Kawhi is great, no doubt, but he's fighting both his own tortoise s mentality and his team's wobbly, newly born legs. You cannot expect the team to have a beautiful game style so early in their remodel.

Its disgusting, but we are shifting eras and Clips core (at least 7 players) have been playing more than two seasons together but still cant get to the WCF... no biggie.

first of all looks that we have no point guard that can play defense...it all starts from there imho. i'm a little disappointed with Laprovittola in that sense...too easy to pass through him with a first step...(same thing with Mills, also if he gives effeort...and, as we all know, the same problem is with Parker). As pointed out at the beginning of the season, we need a point guard that can play defense...
I liked, instead, some things i've seen from Kyle...on offense it's clear his advantage just 'cause of his lenght when he plays the point. That's a walking miss match waiting to heppen whenever he plays point guard on offense. I frankly think that, once Green is back, it could be an idea to give a chance at a KA-Green-Kiwi back court...
