There will always be racists. Trump didn't do anything to create more or empower them. That's why BLM and other social activism existed before him and rose to power under our first Black President.

This country made progress. And just as I feared, Trump winning now gave everyone the ultimate "race" trump card to play again.

This country, full of the same racist people voted for a Black President. Twice. How could racist old whitey do that? It's not like the racists were hibernating and forgot to vote. Then just said "hey, it's been 8 years, enough of this equality! We gave it the old college try!"

It's ridiculous. This election was not lost because racists saw Trump and said now I can skip down the street freely with my racism!!!

There is the same amount of vocal racists today as yesterday but overwhelming this country has become more accepting. I just fear that we will have 4 years of pulling the race card, acting like nothing changed (which is not true) and tensions will become higher because of it.
The same amount of whites who voted for Romney voted for Trump. Hillary got 6% less of the Latino vote compared to 2012 Obama (71% to 65%) and was 8% worse with blacks compared to 2012 Obama (88% to 80%). Factor in that 6MM less voters turned out for Hillary than 2012 Obamma while Trump only lost 1MM in voter turnout compared to Romney. From the data we have today, Hillary lost in part because she didn't do well with blacks and latino's and in part because democrats didn't come out for her. The numbers do not suggest that Trump galvanized some previously non-voting racist segment of society to actually vote.

Agreed and that is why I've been saying the reason Hillary lost was because she lost Obama supporters who felt slapped in the face that DEMS would trot out Hillary then alienated Bernie supporters as well. They maybe couldn't bring themselves to vote for Trump but they weren't voting for Hillary either.

Has nothing to do with race. Obama would have smashed Trump and then that narrative doesn't make sense.

, almost everyone that voted for Trump said they didn't like or trust him. He didn't empower anyone. He was just the anti-Hillary and that's why he won.

He was the message, not the hope.

‘Ni**er lover!’: George Zimmerman kicked out of Florida bar after racist clash with waitress

Zimmerman became belligerent and started yelling at a waitress.

The manager also said that this was not the first incident involving Zimmerman at that bar, according to WKMG. Benitez also told police that he wanted to have Zimmerman banned.

Zimmerman reportedly said to Benitez, “I didn’t know you were a (racial expletive) lover.”

When Zimmerman was removed from the bar, he claimed that he had been assaulted by a black man.

Zimmerman was not the only person in his party using racist language.

Were those demographics living in swing states? Here in Cali, I could see a lot minority voters just saying " it, I ain't waiting in now 3 hour line. Trump can't win California anyway, so it doesn't matter."

I also read that record numbers of voters were coming out in certain counties in the Rust Belt, even if they number of overall voters nationwide was down.

This election was lost because DEMS ran out Hillary. DEM supporters overwhelming said no to Hillary when she ran vs Obama. They slapped them in the face. They slapped Bernie supporters in the face.

That is why the reset button was hit. Has nothing to do with people being tired of a Black President and the progress being made. It has to do with no longer trusting our government will work for us and being tired of a career politician like Hillary.

Obama would have obliterated Trump if he were allowed to run again.
Blacks didn't show up to vote for Hillary because she's white. They stopped caring after Obama's 2nd win. Just look at how ty the black voter turnout was compared to Obama's election. That wasn't the entire reason but blacks have no room to if most of them didn't vote.

I really don't know. I think enough people, blacks included, hated Trump legitimately. So it had to be more than her just being white IMO.

Despite Trump giving a faint voice to the alt-right mouthbreathers and basement dwellers on reddit and 4chan, I don't think those "angry white men" who put him over the top were motivated by racism. As we know, Trump swept the Rust Belt states, which were long a democratic firewall, filled with blue collar, Union-belonging Joes who likely voted democrat all their lives (the Unions and the Right are basically eternal enemies).

Read a few exit poll interviews, and it seems a lot of those lifelong democrats, many of whom even voted for Obama, are simply fed up with the status quo in Washington, the "elites," and blame both parties for the decimation of the manufacturing industry in the region. They wanted an alternative, maybe not necessarily to lift them out of their plight, but to stick it to the coastal elites they perceived responsible for their situation. Yeah, Trump aggressively campaigned in the region, promising to return manufacturing jobs to the area, which is a silly pipe dream, but I think they vote him in regardless.

    Michael Moore called it:

From Green Bay to Pittsburgh, this, my friends, is the middle of England – broken, depressed, struggling, the smokestacks strewn across the countryside with the carcass of what we use to call the Middle Class. Angry, embittered working (and nonworking) people who were lied to by the trickle-down of Reagan and abandoned by Democrats who still try to talk a good line but are really just looking forward to rub one out with a lobbyist from Goldman Sachs who’ll write them nice big check before leaving the room. What happened in the UK with Brexit is going to happen here. Elmer Gantry shows up looking like Boris Johnson and just says whatever he can make up to convince the masses that this is their chance! To stick to ALL of them, all who wrecked their American Dream! And now The Outsider, Donald Trump, has arrived to clean house! You don’t have to agree with him! You don’t even have to like him! He is your personal Molotov tail to throw right into the center of the bas s who did this to you! SEND A MESSAGE! TRUMP IS YOUR MESSENGER!
I could see the proverbial Joe now, six pack of Iron City beer, sitting on the torn up Lazy Boy, laughing his ass off while Washington and those so called coastal elites scramble to make sense of the situation. He did it to watch the world burn. Yeah, he could take us with him, but he doesn't give a because his world burned a long time ago.

Ok so either no republicans are experiencing this type of aggression or all of them as a whole are intimidated or embarrassed to talk about it. Got it.
You asked a question, and I answered it in good faith, not to push an agenda. If I have an agenda at all it's that I'm extremely open-minded to Trump and want him to succeed. I don't know how bad it's gotten. I'm a large black man living in a liberal city, so people don't really act belligerent to me very often. I haven't noticed a change in at ude, but after hearing some of the chants during his victory speech, I do think some people could have.

And Trump needs to step up early now. He needs to come out and flat out say something to the tune of: "I have heard what people have said about me with regards to race. I am making it abundantly clear that racism of any form will not be tolerated by me. If you are in a position of power and exhibit any sort of racism you will be removed from your post. If you are at a speaking engagement of mine and are heard shouting offensive things, you will be removed. That is not who I am, that is not the country I want and it ends now".
