Team will need better play from all the others (yea Kyle too, bc "in b4 all the references to him on replies to me like I care...")
anyways... Mills going nuts from 3 isn't going to happen nightly...

I don't think things are as fixed as they appear.

Tony was awesome on the last playoffs but still we basically beat the Rockets without him. So again, how much difference does he really make at this point?
I would argue if he helps you beat a playoff team then it’s a big deal? I mean by your line of logic right now none of our guards really matter since they all grade out meh overall.

Of course not. Spurs are battling without their MVP player. Things aren’t going to be smooth and you aren’t going to blow teams out

Luckily LMA is an all star, they are getting contributions from random players (Kyle, Bertans, Forbes, Pau playing great, Murray, spotty Mills).

Then overall they are doing damn good on defense even with Kawhi/Danny hobbled/out.

They have a big home stretch coming up too before the RRT and that will be critical.

They need Manu back healthy, tbh... he's having a great season, and it's clear they're going to need some grandpa juice here and there

My point is: did he really help us beat a playoffs team? With how great Tony did against Memphis and how tough that series was one would want to say yes, but then we overcame a much tougher opponent without him and it makes me think that we probably would have still beaten the Grizzlies without him.

Yeah, and I'm pessimistic that after this season we will be locked to them for the next 3/4 years to the tune of around 100 millions dollars. That's what bugs me.

I agree - its a big issue. SA isn’t dumb and I tried to explain how I think SA ended up here (bad luck). But I think they will address it the best they can either via trade, draft or FA.

They were really banking on Murray becoming a starting caliber PG and he still has time.

True - they need it from all over. I also think due to the PG “issues” we will see Pop have some non-traditional lineups in the playoffs too (maybe no TP/Mills/Murray in at all)

That is correct. Even though his usage is low and he hasn’t been all that good, he still runs sets more cleanly than anyone else, makes very few mistakes and gets the ball to players in the right spots, accurately and on time (and still finishes better than most of the guards outside of Manu this year).

He’s not been very good but he’s still the best PG offensively with regards to running an offense and controlling tempo.
Yup. But if it doesn't show up in a box score, people don't acknowledge and/or see those simple things he does.

I do hope he can start knocking down that corner 3 again, and just get that mid range shot back consistently
