Eh, i think we are getting used players being human and not saints. I mean look at Kyrie's and KD's pr.
How can he not be average if he logged solid playoff minutes for his age?
"franchise player"
he'd have to spend 10x as much time as he does on stagram working on learning to shoot, pass, or dribble to become even average in those skills. better hope White develops because this scrub ain't ever gonna franchise player caliber![]()

I think you're judging by your own experiences and what not. Get a job or volunteer with youth and you'll see that parents see it a lot different than some twenty-something on the internet. Marketers will stay away from this dude.
You’re wrong. You’re letting your Spurs fandom or whatever cloud your judgement of this situation. Or whatever has happened to you. An example: Draymond Green has kicked several people in the nuts. He also yells and screams which is something a lot of people would consider “violent behavior”. Guess what? He’s still on a commercials and other stuff. This little relationship DJ is in with this harmless YouTube channel won’t affect . Move along.
You're out of your league if that's the kind of premise you're gonna present. If I was letting my Spurs fandom cloud my judgment, I'd be giving DM a pass like the other fanboys here.
Yes, pernicious people do break into marketing or even their pernicious behavior is a catalyst to notoriety that draws in marketers. But these persons have created a brand name for themselves and have national in-built audiences. Marketers aren't going to pernicious role players; and often marketers are booting celebrity endorsers for unbecoming behavior as well. It's basically a fine line. DJ doing videos and exhibiting strip club behavior at home is not typically what marketers want. Come to terms, bro.
Also, it's noteworthy that a 'dirty play' in the moment on the field of play is not equatable to immoral behavior off the court. Perhaps, that's akin to a double standard; but seems to be par for the course.
What I meant by “Spurs fandom” I meant how people always think people have to do things the “right way” and be Tim Duncan-like and not bring attention to themselves.
Strip Club behavior? You haven’t watched the vids then. You’re taking it way overboard. It’s not even that bad. You also haven’t adapted to the current world. But if he becomes a better player just watch and see him get endorsements. This minor thing won’t affect him. Then we’ll come back to this conversation.
I just want him to get a jumper. If he shoots like 38% from three then what does it matter does these stupid vids.
I really like Dejounte, I just hope that these Youtube videos don't become a distraction.
I don't know if he realizes that IMO he's closer to being out of the NBA that he is to being a starter, let alone a star player. At this point he's darn lucky that he's even starting. The only reason he got the starting spot last season was due to Parker's injury, and because we had absolutely no-one else that was an above average starting caliber NBA point guard on the roster. He definitely didn't earn that starting spot at all. He had it handed to him.
I believe that he is a hard worker, so I really do hope that he makes the most of it and shows/proves this season that he belongs in the NBA, and also belongs in the starting lineup. This is a very big year for him, and I hope this Youtube thing doesn't distract him from that at all.

It won’t. It’s still offseason. I’m sure it will slow down during the season. But if you watched the vids, he clearly says that his main life is on the floor and he doesn’t have any hobbies outside of basketball. So that’s part of why he agreed to do this. But in every video he always mentions that he just finished working out. He seems to not make any of the vids before working out. In 1 video, they had to do a dare where they had to read the last message in each other’s phone. His last message was from his strength coach telling him how he was doing great and to keep up the hard work. He said he loves the grind and the process of trying to become great over time. From listening to him talk he will not let anything distract him. These vids are all in his free time AFTER he has put his work in.
Note: I’m not sure you should consider him closer to out of the league when he is an All-NBA 2nd team defender capable of averaging 8 rpg at the pg position. Those are useful things that aren’t really the norm for most PGs so he belongs. And he didn’t necessarily get it handed to him. Pop was respecting Tony and Tony realized he wasn’t as good as him and Pop knew. That’s why Tony said Pop thanked him afterwards.
I know he has a lot of work to do but I’m only defending him because people are blowing this way out of proportion.
I don't think any of us fans knows enough about Dijon's character at this juncture to say whether this little YouTube enterprise will be a distraction. That's a reasonable concern at this point. The other issue is how does this sit with Pop? Spurs fans are accustomed to below-the-radar players, and so is Pop. Fans (in general) may adjust to more publicly flamboyant players, but will Pop?
You are some sort of Vulcan to say that?
That doesn't make sense; but making sense doesn't seem of great importance to you, anyways.
So, i engage with arguments thzt don't make sense to me all the time.
For Spurs sake, I expect that Pop can adapt to the new times and changes. Again, the league isn't the same, the players either.
Anyway, I was reading a bit more about DJ. There are signs that the Pop and the Spurs have influenced his private life in a positive way.
A year ago, DJ's ex had a baby girl. Things weren't easy, after a custody war, DJ can see the baby and pay child support.
He's on a team where family is over everything, I have no doubt that Pop tried to encourage him to keep fighting for his daughter.
I don't think it's is a coincidence that Bryn Forbes could solve his issues about the custody of his kids being a Spur, too.
I guess the Spurs' culture and environment helps these young guys to realize that these off-court issues don't help their careers.
Dejounte seems to have got himself mixed up with a talentless, narcissitic, attention-seeking leech. Poor guy. He's like one of those guys whose wife tags him in all of her posts promoting her multi-level marketing bull . He has to no deep down inside that this whole thing is really, really bad.
Why is she a leech?
You might be right. Pop may be a good influence on young guys dealing with personal issues. But there is a difference between Forbes and Dijon: Forbes isn't posting his private life on YouTube. Dijon, however, is public and flamboyant. The only guy I can think of to compare that personality type with is SJax. And we know how that ended. For me, personally, I loved the "quiet assassin" aspect of the GOAT era. It gave the Spurs a certain, unique mystique. With his antics, Dijon may be doing more than just dragging PATFO/Spurs fans into the "modern NBA"; he may be dragging the team into the sameness of all the other franchises. I will be sorry to lose our mystique - especially if Dijon doesn't make big improvements in his game. If he does become a great player, maybe that makes the loss of our quiet assassin mystique worth it.
Despite being a quiet assassin, himself, Number 2 already did so much to drag the Spurs into the "sameness" of other franchises that we might never recover anyway.
Guys like Robinson,Duncan,Ginobili were the mystique. All 3 guys I mention are rare types of personalities along with being good people. It's rare you even come across people like that in life. Spurs got lucky for nearly 30 years they had those types of guys.
Please keep it down in here, DJ needs his rest and may even have a hernia. Let him rest please...sshhhh.
I feel the people who are offended by DJ are old people who are above the age of 40. When I see the videos of DJ and his girlfriend it just comes across as two normal 20 year olds. DJ strikes me as still a young kid trying to figure things out which there is nothing wrong about it.
Well your probably a dude....so not sure what credentials you are bringing to this convo.
There's nothing wrong with what he's doing. If he wants to, let him. That said, I found it pretty boring.
I put on the second video in the background to hear how bad it was. It actually wasn't as bad as I expected. Pretty okay, tbh. Not gonna listen to any more of them but if this is the worst thing about DJM, that's good news for the Spurs.
I don't have a problem with the videos, as long as he's not distracted by them, then that is OK with me. I just wonder if he gets in a slump at some point of the season and his girlfriend forces him to keep making them, and if that might take some of his focus away from Basketball. I don't really want him making them during the playoffs (hopefully we are in the playoffs). If you are serious about winning, I don't think the playoffs are the time to be doing stuff like that.
