Aside from Wemby, you’re looking at a team comprised of not the best guy available in the draft but some offshoot name that nobody else would have even joked about drafting with that pick. This isn’t the big 3 Spurs where you can afford to do that every once in awhile. This team is just a bunch of players that might have made nice 15th men getting 10 minutes a game in garbage time in 2005
eh, i dont really think this is the case at all. vassell/sochan/branham/wesley were all drafted basically in line with their projections. tre jones was a SRP. keldon was a very late first and a successful one at that. the rest of the guys have all been around long enough where they're no longer really associated with their draft positions
the spurs draft reaches in recent years were Primo and Samanic

think pop is warming up to Wesley getting run. Graham is a lost cause.
and Mamu is fun for spurts but his defense is beyond horrid. I’ll watch him do some nice things for 3 minutes and think “wtf why doesn’t this guy play more” and then i watch more closely and go “oh that’s why”
there’s definitely a place for Mamu minutes in a year like this. Definitely more than we’ve seen
Though to be fair, any move that gets Branham the off the floor is an enormous positive. That pos is allowing his man to shoot 57.4% against him this year, not ing joking. Among players who have appeared in 20 games this year Branham is fourth worst in the league. He makes Collins look like Mount Mutombo. It’s a nice change of pace for Sochan to not be the most frustrating player of the game. But i question his long term prospects if he’s simply not an impact defender

"He can't play defense" excuse went out the window about 15 games ago. Literally only Wemby plays D this year so that reason should never be held against a guy as to why he's not playing.
Graham not seeing a lick of playing time is so insane especially when he's inevitably bought out in a month instead of this dumbass FO using him as salary fodder in a trade.
I'm assuming Barlow isn't getting minutes because of some stupid two way player games restriction but that should have been thrown out the door the moment Bassey went down.
Again, this is all common sense that should be happing when you're talking about a team that's historically one of the worst in NBA history.
But I literally can't even expect Pop to do any of that. People think it's hyperbole but I legitimately think this season's version of the old man has been the worst coach in sports in the last 25 years. He makes McDaniels look like a genius tbh.
No argument from me that Branham sucks. But give Wesley 10-15 games to show horrible he is and then we can check back in tbh
I have a policy of only watching 1 Spurs game per a week and that's it. This team is too boring and unprofessional to give away too much time to watching them.
Someone needs to tell pop that since wemby gets gassed after 5 minutes- pop needs to sub him out for maybe 1-2 minutes and then throw him back out there for another 5 minutes
then 1-2 minutes rest and then right back out there
start game- sub him out at 7 min mark
back in at 5 minute mark - EVEN if you have to burn a timeout to get him right back in
finish 1st qtr - and along with tv timeout- put him back in at the 11 minute mark of 2nd qtr
sub out at 6 minute mark
use timeout to make sure wemby is back by 4 minute mark of 2nd qtr to finish out first half
that is 19 minutes out of the 24 minutes on the floor and only 5 resting and timeouts also
repeat in 2nd half and this will give vw 38 minutes a game and the ONLY chance the spurs have to win games
tonite pop subbed vw out way before halftime and NEVER put him back until the 3rd qtr
why the did vw need 7 minutes of rest PLUS HALFTIME?
