pls
It actually is, tbh.
Account registered in 2019, hasn't posted anything other than that "update" in years and everyone unquestionably accepted it.
Probably got us with the LJ mention.
I bet it's an alt account of one of the regular trolls, has to be.
I still like to imagine that the website got completely upgraded and that is where timvp is posting all his game grades, not realizing that they never updated the link from the homepage so no one knows about the updated forum![]()
It's been approximately 516,960 minutes since this post happened . . . and, honestly, it hurts. It's a pain deep in the soul that I probably won't ever shake. To be that close to such a great moment -- only to see it slip through the fingers -- is still devastating. Somehow, it seems to have hurt more and more as the year progressed as the realization set in regarding what exactly was at stake.
Sure, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't mean much. It's not something real. It's not a death or some other sort of real life tragedy. But given that following Spurstalk is my only hobby in life, it's painful. I'm not going to even try to lie. It hurts.
I've tried getting away from it all to try to forget about it. But there I was, in the middle of the Pacific on a cruise ship in a pitch black room trying to fall asleep, and all that I can see are that bull lie of a post replaying again and again.
Logically, I know the pain doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's just a forum. And Spurstalk already has a solid Slovenian server. And going into last year, an updated forum server and software would have been seen as a great success. , going in with 2 hamsters running things, I thought getting the forum to load was a success.
Logically, what Spurstalk did last year was a great accomplishment. A year ago, if you told me Spurstalk had an admin that actually gave a , I would have been thrilled.
But damn.
This pain doesn't compare to anything else I've experienced in my Spurs fandom. Yeah, 8 sucked. Losing the spam forum was tough to swallow. Lakaluva was unpleasant. Mono spamming the Luka wasn't fun. Watching Jeff Errors get run time sucked. But all of those don't even register compared to this.
I've had an extremely busy summer. Life is great -- never better. But it continues to haunt me.
Hopefully hunting for a decent NBA draft topic tonight will provide some sort of relief. The great thing about sports is there is always tomorrow. For now, at least, the pain of yesterday outweighs the excitement of tomorrow. I'm hoping that changes. Starting sometime this decade.
Bravo, jeebus
Starting to get hit with malware warnings, presumably from some of the ads that run on the site.
I'll continue to push for a viable alternative to this site. I think a private subreddit might be the best...
Whatever you start, you gotta get everyone on there. Or else you’ll just end up coming back here. I’ve seen this happen before. This place is running ty but it’s familiar and “home” and people come running back when they see people still posting here. It’s gotta be all or nothing.
I agree, but tbh I'd want us all to come back... the private subreddit would just be a backup plan for while the site is down. As soon as it's back up, we come back here.
Missed you reply when you said that. Yeah, I think it's a great idea. If the server is struggling now, I am a bit worried about it when the traffic starts picking up. I think it's good to look for an alternate backup now rather than later.
Good to see the site acting like ass again in the lead up to the draft and free agency.
timvp is giving zero s![]()
It’s been ty for awhile now. It takes a real Spurs fans to be patient navigating this site, really
Yeah this has been borderline unusable the past couple of days. Can’t wait for us to make a huge draft day trade and have no way for anyone to post about it on here![]()
This thread is the greatest troll job in the history of ST. He’s the TSpence of site management.
So is the site going to run OK for the draft, or are we screwed? Do we need to look for an alternate place to go beforehand just to make sure in case this place crashes?
I’m happy to set up a private Subreddit for everyone to use ***only as a backup for when the site is down***
I have zero interest in setting up a ST alternative or compe or… but I’d miss you crusty old s if we got seperated
I think you have enough clout that people would follow you if you made a real compe or… you’ll have henchmen like me advertising folks to move over and once they see it’s managed better, they’ll go too… do it scott…
This thread was pinned though. A regular poster can't do that.
My forum would run even worse than this one because I wouldn't know the first thing about maintaining it![]()
Private Subreddit created. https://www.reddit.com/r/SpursTalkRefugees/
I'd love to have some additional Mods.
Again... this is only for use in times when ST is down.
I don’t understand what the problem is. A number of us would be happy to donate money to improving this place. What is the real reason they don’t lay out what needs to be done and attempt to correct it.
Is anyone even able to get in touch with the people necessary to do what's needed?
That's my issue as well. There are various, more modern, platforms that are better than V bulletin that are tied to the cloud that are reasonably priced. I just have no idea how to go about managing them in a business minded way.
This forum is over 20 years old. Pretty much anyone that's anyone has been here a minute and (theoretically) has some sort of steady income. We could easily all pitch in 5-10 bucks to upgrade this piece of server/software and make it run nicely. The people in charge refuse to even speak up.
Thanks for the add.
I rather be there with 10 ST members than 300k /r/nbaspurs insufferable sniffers.
