CP3 can be traded on Dec. 15, right? The Spurs might be able to get something from a contender at the trade deadline. Maybe that was part of the sell. Come teach the kids for a few months and then we can send you to a contender if you want.
One of the reports was that Paul wanted to show he's still motivated to be an elite guard in the league. Show off what you can still do on the Spurs, help them out, etc etc. If he doesn't still have it, he can just ride out the year and retire. Either way, it's a win for the younglings.

Very satisfied with this. He can help Castle on so many levels and get everyone in position. Not much room on the court for low bbIQ players. Sochan better get with the program or he will live in the dog house. Now, we need a vet for the small forward position.

Tbh, in retrospect, what CP3 did with those Suns teams was pretty damn impressive. They weren't the same before or after him.

Booker was straight up empty stats before Paul came around. Ayton was even more of a waste of space.

Maybe the best thing about this is the end of the endlessly awful Trae Young ruminations.

Did we all watch the same guy ? I thought he looked pretty washed and I honestly think Tre Jones is a better player than him at this point in their careers.

Yea, I it’s crazy that we can see things so differently because I see CP3 as 5x better than Tre in pnroll

Maybe Nuñez should not go to Europe, he too could learn so much more here than he would spending time there?

One of my most hated players ever… in’ A tbh

With that said, should be good for Wemby and the guys. Back to the bench where you belong Tre Jones. Hopefully he helps Castle too tbh.

I wonder what SpursTalk would have been like if broadband existed when signed Dominique Wilkins.

That’s literally one aspect of the game - Im talking about overall on both sides of the ball. PnR is something that spurs run like 15 times a game. Sure he will help then but its not like it used to be where its a massive part of Spurs sets.

I mean Robert Horry was one of my most hated players of all time back in 2003 but was glad as when the Spurs landed him. I know not the same situation since we're getting the last year or two of Paul's career but I'm pretty happy to have a first ballot Hall of Famer here to help teach Stephon to be an NBA point guard, plus should get a lot of nice Wemby highlights out of Paul's minutes too since he's the greatest lob passer in the history of the league.

    I'm stunned.

Obviously on his last legs, but still useful and his compe iveness, IQ, toughness and leadership/mentorship should still hopefully leave a lasting impression on the players expected to be here long term.

He should also give the team confidence because no matter how old, it's still cool that one of the better players of all-time is signing with a non glamor market bottom feeder.

As far as role, I'd imagine he'll start and mostly close non blowouts, play about 24 mpg and maybe sit one half of each back to back.

I’m a Chris Paul hater but this is obviously a good signing at that contract

Also, this team’s starting PG long term is going to be Traore, not Castle

LOL I actually watched a ton of games in 96-97 and went to a few too just because I had always wanted to see Nique in a Spurs jersey. Though didn't hurt that you could get in the Alamodome for bringing a Coke can in too when Vancouver or other scrub teams came to town since I was a broke ass kid.
