The Spurs put on a clinic of how to move the ball and penetrate a zone. They had 30 assists. Parker was terrific and really stepped up to the challenge against Chris Paul, after the rough start. The 3 point shooting tonight was SPECTACULAR. They missed only 4 out of 15 3-pt attempts (.733)!

Duncan was decisive with his moves, passes and shots. I thought the Spurs defense was very good tonight. Timmy is still slow on helpside D. Rasho was very good helpside, as usual.

The Spurs pretty much ran the Hornets out of the gym in every qtr. except the 3rd. The dribble penetration and kickouts for 3s just demoralized the young Hornets. 16 TOs for the Spurs was much better than the 23 TO mess they put up in OKC earlier this month.

All in all, quite clinical tonight.

but but but Rasho doesnt do anything.

    HES WORTHLESS!!!!

Timmy is still slow on helpside D
amazing how that will improve come April as well.

Zone D from a better team might be a better indicator. but slowly but surely I think years later, the Spurs are somewhat finally learning how to beat a damn zone.

Cuz we all know that PJ Brown and C. Anderson are just as good as the Wallace's!

Post Game Quotes: Spurs vs. Hornets
    December 29, 2005

    http://www.nba.com/spurs/news/quotes_051229.html

    Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich

On the game - “It was a good all-around performance. I thought they moved the basketball well. We found the open shooters. The offense was very sharp. The defense did a good job individually and team wise.”

On Manu Ginobili - “His energy is important for us. The energy increases when he’s on the court. The level of aggression rises when he’s on the court. He played about 17 minutes. I was going to play him about 20, but when we got
the lead, I opted to be safe with him.”

On playing Denver - “They’re going to make sure we know it’s a high al ude situation. We’re going to get tired. It’s going to be important for the bench to play well. We’ll have to limit the people on the court (their time). Manu will probably be that guy that we want available at the end of the game. Playing a lot of people will be the key.”

    Manu Ginobili

On the game - “We make little adjustments every game and we did that tonight. We played well overall defensively. We had a lot of wide open shots and we nailed them. So overall it was a good game for us.”

On his right ankle - “I am feeling good. I am not trying to rush anything right now. I am getting back into basketball shape right now. I was able to attack the rim and not think about the ankle.”

    Michael Finley

On Manu Ginobili’s return to the lineup - “As a team (having Ginobili back in the lineup) makes us all better. He does things on the floor that not many people in the league can do. He is trying to get back into the swing of things, and until he does, we are just trying to keep the ship up.”

On playing time - “Any time that I get a chance to get on the court is great for me, whether it is in the first quarter or in “garbage time.” It gives me time to get things figured out defensively and offensively.”

On getting payback against New Orleans/ Oklahoma City after their 12/18 matchup - “It was an unspoken motivation for us against them tonight. We have veterans who remember what happened. They beat us pretty well at their place, and we just wanted to establish ourselves early and often and I think we did that.”

    Hornets Head Coach Byron Scott

On the game - “You have a young bunch of guys and you try to tell them what to expect. I told them coming into this game you have a team over there who are the world champions. They remember the last time they played us and they’re going to try to destroy us. I don’t think they believed me, but now I think they understand exactly what I was trying to say. That we were going to have to play at the highest level and we couldn’t make mistakes on either end of the court and we made so many of them it was pathetic. In the second half they figured out what they (Spurs) were all about. And when you play them at their place you better play at your best. We knew that we were going to have to play well and we didn’t do that.”

On how the Hornets fell apart in the first quarter - “Bad shots and them just getting open shots. We saw open shots after open shots. We were very indecisive on the defensive end. Everything we could do wrong we did wrong.”

    PJ Brown

On the game - “It was the turnovers. Our defense was as bad as it’s been the whole year. It was a combination of that and giving up so many points in the paint. We just didn’t give ourselves a chance to win. I thought we played into the middle of the first quarter and then we couldn’t get any rhythm then. They did what they wanted to do and we gave them no resistance.”

On the offensive rhythm of the Hornets - “I know our offense wasn’t good, but I think our defense wasn’t there either. It’s hard to play a half court game when you’re playing a team like this.”
