These guys from Penn suck. All they do is switch out underneath and try to put the pickman out on the perimeter - and then they miss repeatedly from outside. Texas has like 4 of the top 150 players in the nation and Penn has five guys who will be CEO's before they're forty. There is no reason for this game to be even close...and it is.

I'm tired of mediocre basketball from All-World players. In the tourney, a bunch of guys that can play together well from a small school (or mediocre major-conf squads, College Station) can beat you if you don't play like there's a chance you're leaving Dallas tomorrow. The Horns need to act like it or I have to become an A&M fan for the rest of the tournament. And I am NOT looking forward to that.

my friends are tired of hearing me say this, and i've only said this once or twice on this board, so i'll say it again now


texas recruits athletes
they don't recruit characters

they get amazing atheltes with ridiculous upside, but its so much of this that they also have no character, no will, no drive, no work ethic

my roomates best friend saw ramonce taylor risking injury against a Gregory pack of scrubs only a week before the rose bowl

we have the talent
but not the character
its the new face of texas, i guess we have to get used to it

damn i hate rick barnes coaching philosophy though

Exactly. We get the guys with all of the talent but none of the drive. They look at the chance to be the coolest guys in the greatest college town in the US and think winning'll be a breeze. They coast and wait for their talent to bail them out.

Schools like A&M get the guys who were good players, not eye-popping talent. And in basketball, only five guys are on the floor so there's not too big of a chance to cover -ups. In other words, if you are in condition and you hustle 100% of the time you're on the floor, you can beat the Jayhawks and the Buckeyes (or the Orange) with lesser talent.

That's why Duke is Duke. Sure, they lose sometimes, but doesn't everybody? But they don't slouch around. They are in your face on every possession. And they're never out of position. And they've been that way since before Danny Ferry played there.

UT needs to either get more character or thug it up a bit before they deserve some swagger. Just waiting until the last ninety seconds to close out the University of Pennsylvania (that's not Penn State, this is a school that hoops with Brown and Yale) is just way too lukewarm. As I said earlier, an ACC team will kick our ass if we play like this on Sunday.

Thats about the dumbest ing thing I have ever heard. What team just won the national championship? What team went to the final 4. Ice, nothing personal, but I don't think you watched very much Longhorn basketball during the regular season.

If you did, you'd completely understand my frustration with UT putting lesser teams away. The Horns aren't going to get past the UConns and the 'Novas (or the Dukes possibly next weekend) of the world playing like this. The killer instinct that we had the two years prior to that ty loss to Nevada in '05 isn't there anymore despite this being a more talented team that the TJ squads.

In the last five years, the Horns have been seeded 6th, 1st, 3rd, 8th, and now 2nd. People forget that we were favored, and were a better seed, in our final four loss to Carmelo and eventual champ Syracuse.

This is shaping up to be like the '04 run. Beat the Ivy school in Round One, try and take out the underacheiving ACC school (NC State lost four straight before beating Cal) in Round Two, and then match up against a team like West Virginia that we should run out of the gym, but they're known, like Xavier, for sticking around in the tourney. If UT gets past them, it's probably a date full of revenge with the Dookies.

I just hope they can assuage my fears and stomp the Wolfpack by twenty.
