I think it's BS but it's consistent with what the league has been doing all playoffs.
Welcome to the new NBA, thank your owner.

Hey dumbass look at the pic in the thread above. Stackhouse didnt even hit him in the head.
I agree to an extent. I think they've at least been pretty good about not being afraid to suspend people, but at the same time they haven't been doing a good job making the punishment fit the crime.
If Raja Bell clotheslining Kobe out of nowhere is worth a 1 game suspension, then what Stackhouse did is NOT worth a suspension. Of course, it's always possible that what Stackhouse did really is worth 1 game, but in that case Bell should have been suspended for a lot more than 1.
That's my only problem really. They need to "tier" the punishments better so that worse crimes actually receive worse punishments.
Normally, I'd agree... but our series the game was turned into WNBA in favor of them, so I won't shed a tear when the new soft-NBA rules screw Dallas over this time.
I find you normally to be good poster but this is a bit weird. Duncan got just as many whistles for more ridiculous touch fouls against him as Dirk did. I think both teams benefitted from the new "softer" NBA.
There is no way the Spurs benefitted by having Duncan kicked from game 3 on a borederline at best call and then Bowen getting screwed in game 4 on an obvious horrible call. Your team's depth won out, and props to your guys for it, but there's no way those rules did anything positive for San Antonio.
There was no play on the ball, just Stackhouse running into Shaq on a breakaway with Stackhouse's right elbow aimed squarely at his head. There was plenty of intent shown by Stackhouse to do something other than simply stop Shaq from scoring. He didn't try to wrap him up, he didn't take a swipe at the ball, he just delivered a hit as if he was a SS and Shaq was running a post pattern inside. That's a bit beyond just a "hard" playoff foul. Perhaps in the NBA of the late 80s/early 90s that goes but not today.
At least that one there was some real contact, and Manu was moving towards Terry.
And that's just sad. Thanks Cubes.
But you're being INCREDIBLY selective here. You ignore Game 5, in which Duncan shot lord knows how many And-1's, some of those on VERY questionable calls--a game the Spurs only ended up winning by 1 point. You ignore Game 6, in which Harris got called for barely touching Bowen at the end of the game on a critical offensive foul when the Mavs had a chance to go up one.
Both teams benefitted from the quicker whistle. Bottom line.
Like I said, I've found you to be quite reasonable. But right now you're only seeing what you want to see...

None of that compares to Dirk shooting 23 ft and Dallas shooting 50 in game 3.
Because you're a Spurs fan.
It definitely compares quite well for fans of a team that had to watch Duncan get to the line 4 times in like 1 minute by leaning into KVH over and over and over.

His arm is on his head.
Quick whistles kept our whole team in foul trouble the entire series. There's no way it evened out. Big difference between a guy who has no defensive game whatsoever in Van Horn committing fouls in desperation vs. ticky-tack crap on perennial All-NBA Defensive team members in Bowen and Duncan.
If Shaq did the same thing to Stackhouse he might've killed him, so I think the suspension is definitely deserved. Just because Shaq is big shouldn't give others free reign to do whatever they want to him.
You wouldn't believe all the talk in Dallas right now. The games are fixed. The league hates the Mavs. The league protects Shaq.
Excuse me? The league hates the same team that practically got handed the whistles in their series with us? The same league whose refs send Dirk to the FT line 20 times every night?
The meltdown is hilarious. God I hope they blow this series.
It has already been said but no harm in saying it a few more times I guess... Stack was not able to reach or jump that high....
His forearm is across Shaq's face not his elbow........
Shaq is hardly a victim here.....
In the opinion of the officials calling the game............
The two calling the game as well as most of the fans in attendance felt that what was done was sufficient for what Stack had done.....
Have to chime in on this one - the precedent was set with Posey's similar play on Hinrich in round 1. ing deal with it.Yes I am a Mavs fan but this suspension is complete BS. Game 5 of the NBA freakin Finals and you suspend Stack....basically giving the Heat the win and a 3-2 lead.
The Spurs obviously benefitted from Duncan missing the last 6:30 or so of the 2nd Q of Game 2 with 3 fouls.
