LJ 3!
I'd consider a first round pick a high draft pick, whether or not he's the highest draft pick the Spurs had since Duncan and Parker.
Does not matter what he did later- the point is he whined and complained about the Spurs purposefully, publicly, and with a clear agenda to the San Antonio media. He did not want to be replaced by Jason Kidd who was at the time BETTER than him. He did not think he should have to sacrifice anything for what the team and Tim himself wanted. No matter how you felt about the pursuit of Kidd or the joy that it did not come to fruition, the point is that Tony handled it poorly.
Ughhhh....He was good.![]()
Andres Nocioni!
No, wait, that one does hurt.
My point was is that he was a player that did things that didn't work with the system and was let go. He's also played well since he left.
, I love Devin Brown and wish he were a Spur, but alas...
Yeh, but the Spurs should have never picked up Beno's option. They made that decision two years into it.
I must have missed the part about Tony getting out of shape and not working on his game.
Yeah it is a bit re ed. At least Scola never played here, but damn... Beno is like off- brand cereal. A generic PG on a now generic team. He probably circled this date on his calendar... "Memo to self... 11-26, make sure you don't stomp your toe so you will be able to play against the Spurs and prove that "mean ole Pop" wrong."
NBA fans are like moths, they're attracted to whatever light is near them. When a player does well for one game, that light is brighter than the sun and those moths converge on it like bears to honey.
And he also apologized to the Spurs, admitted that it was wrong to go to the press and learned his lesson.
It doesn't justify Beno going to the press, over and over and over and over and over, while caring more about the nightclub than the practice facility.
I understand you love him. I understand that you think the Spurs organization has wronged him in some manner. But really, the Parker/Kidd thing is irrelevant.
Sorry. I don't feel like playing imaginary "ifs and buts". If you can't back up your position with facts, don't try to use fantasy. If Beno wanted to be sitting out with a broken finger he'd be doing it in Sacramento, anyway.
How does it not matter what happened later? Tony proved he could do what he does with his chances. Did Beno?
You can talk if you can back it up. I guess now we can all forgive Beno because he dropped the hammer on the Spurs.
... and Beno handled about 300 things poorly during his time with the Spurs.
I forgot .. who got fired for the messed up birthdate?
I'll never understand that decision. Ever. Regardless of what any of us think of Beno, that decision cannot be justified.
What is relevant is the double standard of the fans. They harp on one player for something but not others who do exactly the same thing. People who hated Kidd applauded what Tony did when he griped publicly, and that is my problem.
He tried to.
Theus made him start playing about 2-3 games before Beno thought he'd be ready.
So far as I can tell this is the first one he's gotten. Looks like he's doing okay.
No, your problem is that you are a Beno fan and not a fan of the Spurs organization.
Was that Lance Blanks?
By the way...the game Darius Washington played tonight in only about his fifth minute of the season...would rank as Beno's 3rd best game as a Spur.
Come on, people don't remember that.

Tony was the MVP of the Finals. He had always been the man.![]()
