Now if we can get Dirk to make all his mother in free throws in crunch time...
    3 out of 4 is a start.

Hey tell everyone about how you think Michael Finley never did anything for the Mavs. That oughta bring some drama.
Do I have to bring that thread up to prove I never said? In the 90's, Finley was the best player on the team. He was very good until about 2004 where he really slowed down. He had 2 bad playoff runs in a row against Sacramento and Phoenix. Therefore my point was that we really didn't have a big 3 at that point since Finley was a no show. It did not intend to say Finley never did anything for the Mavs.

I still dont want to see the suns in the playoffs. This team can literally play their game against us. We cant slow them down and when we do it's very short. In a 7 game series I have tons of doubts beating them 4 times. Only team who can this offense up is the Spurs.
Agreed. Insane as it sounds, I'd rather play the Spurs.

    Nash... airball? Seriously?
Howard did a good job of contesting the shot and not letting him square up properly.

Of course we rather play the Spurs.....Mavs just matchup better against them. The Suns constantly put pressure on your D...plus Nash always plays with a chip on his shoulder against the Mavs

Record against a healthy Suns team in a 7 game series is 2-4. Thats the only record that matters at the moment.
    Healthy?

We didn't have Joe Johnson after the first 1 1/2 games.

Is he worse than Shawn Bradley? The Raefist? He's overpaid for sure, but he IS a useful player.
    Who isn't overpaid these days?

I'm thinking after that stupid ing bull at the end there, Avery will go ahead and let Devean George sit in the official Ager/Fazekas chair at the end of the bench the next time the game is on the line.

No dogging on my boy Finley, he from my neck of the woods. Anybody who thinks that he didn't do anything for the Mavs is an idiot.

Amare in the lineup. Suns with Amare/Nash/Marion all on the same court in a 7 game series are 4-2 against the Mavs. We were nearly pushed to a 7th game against an undermanned suns team in 2006. This team KNOWS they can beat us. They arent scared of us because they can score any basket they want on us especially in crunch time. No way we beat them playing them that exact type of style. If all their guys are producing...we cant/wont beat them in a series. The Suns are just too good to lose that kind of style.
On the flip side of that, we didn't have too much trouble scoring on them tonight. They couldn't get stops whenever they needed one. Did they even have a lead tonight? They can't rebound either.

Rx for beating Phoenix: Control the glass, chase their shooters off the 3-point line, be physical and you can win. They match up real well with us, we just don't have an answer at all for Nash and Amare on the pic-n-roll. I hope they do blow it up and trade Amare in order to get better on d because we can't stop that, and they ran it repeatedly in crunch time to get back in the game.

I think George was trying to hit the ball off the suns player (not knowing the clock was out) and not to save the ball. That way the suns don't get another shot.

Yea exactly, we see a different roster every time you step up to the plate......and it seems each time I'm going to be hearing some type of whining about what superstar or waterboy was out at the time.....

point is, you aren't making it past the spurs or mavs in the 2nd or final round.....

I thought George had a nice floor game tonight. He was a plus.

this game has totally substantiated my theory: that the mavs are in fact a good team that have been and will continue losing on purose in order to not face golden state in the playoffs (who will either be 7th or 8th).

their goal is to stay away from number 1 and 2 in order to get a comfortable seeding at either 3,4,5.

they'll try their best against the better teams that way they can build some confidence against them.

Unless you score six points grab two rebounds and your name is Brandon Bass.

Bass has been hyped and touted since training camp as the solution for some of the matchup problems we face against up-tempo teams like Phoenix and Golden State.

I agree with the Rock-Paper-Scissors theory regarding the West's Big Three.

After watching the replay of the last shot, it looks like Howard put his arm out just far enough to alter Nash's shot, so that it wasn't a clear path to the basket. Good D by Josh, who I thought was a bigger problem tonight than Dirk, even.

this was a game we should have won easily and in typical Mavs fashion we queefed a big lead away and got lucky to win.

and after two plus years of this , this team has taken away all of my faith in them.

beating GS or PHX isn't winning a le. since you're a fan of a gimmick team with no chance at it, i can understand why championships don't even enter your radar.

That was not a dig on Bass, he very well could be an answer to the Mavs problems against small ball teams. It is just it appears that Mono took his production as the only positive of this game for the Mavs.

Yeah, it's always nice to beat Phoenix, but I agree with Dirk: it's going to be awfully hard to contain them over the course of a 7-game series. I think Dirk has plateaued out. If Josh can continue to develop into a guy who requires a double-team himself, it makes things so much easier for this team. Dirk ended up having a nice game tonight, even though it seemed like Marion did a terrific job on him.
