Smart, I learned my lesson after the Bush Recession in 2008.
Thanks for the advice. If there's any cash left when this is over and we have a new Democratic administration I plan on doing the same.
Now is the time to get in getting great companies at cheap prices will ride the wave back up
Nope. Too soon. If I had waited for the 'bottom' last time, I would have almost tripled my $$$. As I stated before, probably 70% of people are going to keep doing what they are doing, staying home, social distancing, etc. Companies WILL go under, probably the brick and mortar weak sisters like Macy's and Sears will be first. That will have a cascading effect as they default on their debt. This won't be right for years. The 'bottom' will likely happen sometime in the next 6-12 months.
I think the DOW will go below 10000, and there is a small chance for it to crash.
Agreed, you have to do due diligence the world is changing you just have to pick the right industry that is going to benefit from what is happening right now.
No, wait.
How would you know what companies are going to pull out of the crisis this early on?
Listening to actual scientists and the healthcare experts, it's sounding like it's 6 months to a year or possibly even longer and we are already seeing how thin our US economy really was due to the wealth gap.
COVID-19 will not go away magically like we were told and unfortunately, there's not a science-based methodology response from our federal response. The only talk I hear from Trump are his proclamations of absolute power, his awesome ratings, mixed messaging with sheltering in place / protesting sheltering in place, self-congratulations of what a great job he is doing, and the weekly shifting of Federal responsibility to a different scapegoat.
The Federal Government isn't organizing or conducting random testing let alone testing suspected cases on the scale we need. You can't fight what you can't see.
If we want a different outcome, listen to healthcare + tech experts now before this Trump recession becomes a complete depression.
Just want to make sure this is not a typo. So you believe the DOW will go below 10,000?
Yup. It went to 6000 with a lot less provocation during the housing bust.
Daily spam. You’re literally no better than a bot.
I wonder if anyone can confirm that you’re not just some political shill parked behind a few dozen screen names over 10 or more message boards.

(CNN) Coronavirus patients taking hydroxychloroquine, a treatment touted by President Trump, were no less likely to need mechanical ventilation and had higher deaths rates compared to those who did not take the drug, according to a study of hundreds of patients at US Veterans Health Administration medical centers.
The study, which reviewed veterans' medical charts, was posted Tuesday on medrxiv.org, a pre-print server, meaning it was not peer reviewed or published in a medical journal. The research was funded by the National Ins utes of Health and the University of Virginia. In the study of 368 patients, 97 patients who took hydroxychloroquine had a 27.8% death rate. The 158 patients who did not take the drug had an 11.4% death rate.
"An association of increased overall mortality was identified in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine alone. These findings highlight the importance of awaiting the results of ongoing prospective, randomized, controlled studies before widespread adoption of these drugs," wrote the authors, who work at the Columbia VA Health Care System in South Carolina, the University of South Carolina and the University of Virginia.
Researchers also looked at whether taking hydroxychloroquine or a combination of hydroxychloroquine and the antibiotic azithromycin, had an effect on whether a patient needed to go on a ventilator.
"In this study, we found no evidence that use of hydroxychloroquine, either with or without azithromycin, reduced the risk of mechanical ventilation in patients hospitalized with Covid-19," the authors wrote.
There are currently no products approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to prevent or treat Covid-19, although research is underway on many drugs.
Hydroxychloroquine has been used for decades to treat patients with diseases such as malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
Trump has touted the drug as a "game changer" for Covid-19 and said hydroxychloroquine shows "tremendous promise."

“Downplaying the virus is a way to attempt to deal with the immediate existential threat, but it also serves the purpose of allowing individuals to carry on as normal. A lot of the behaviors that people need to observe to manage the spread of the virus are unpleasant (e.g., staying indoors, not seeing friends), and denying the problem also means that people can avoid these actions.”
Arguing that coronavirus is overblown, or a media invention, also permits those who believe in these theories to feel they are part of an exclusive club with secret knowledge, fulfilling the need we all have to feel as if we understand what’s really going on. As Douglas told the New York Times, “If you believe in conspiracy theories, then you have power through knowledge that other people don’t have.”
Conspiracy theories function as a self-soothing mechanism, an effort to make what doesn’t make sense sensible. And during the coronavirus pandemic, conspiracy theories have become an international effort, used by governments and individuals alike to evade blame for thousands of deaths and foist it on an easily available “other.”
How about unliberating your asshole first.
