Great game all around. Tim was great throughout, and kudos to Nash for not caving after that tough start. This had all the traits of a great NBA game: up-and-down action, dunks, general chippyness between the teams, a loud home crowd, and bad officiating.

I actually feel bad for Suns Fans because the officiating was horrible tonight. The zebras blew several calls in the Spurs' favor. Then again, I won't feel too bad for them because it's not like we've never had bad calls go against us.

    Looking forward to Monday.
Nice comments to see. I agree. Spurs had bad calls too. What a game. I am still to mad about the loss so I am reserving more comments for later. Congrats and party it up tonight. Thank god we only have to wait til monday for game 4!

Suns beat the Spurs by twenty.
    A 20 point win = 1 win.

2 wins of less than 10 points = 2 wins.

a win is a win is a win. The margin of victory means nothing.

I wouldn't be too proud of winning by seven when Nash couldn't buy a basket and Amare barely plays the whole game. Suns beat the Spurs by twenty. This game could have gone either way tonight but not game two.

Yep. Just like every playoff game the Spurs have won since 1999, they couldn't have done it without the refs.

Never said that. Just was amazed that a Spurs fan actually thought that the refs hosed the Suns.

    Amare proves that he's self-absorbd.l

Nice dunk with 0.1 seconds...might as well pad your stats....he just wanted to keep his 20+ pts streak alive....that's what makes him 10x more Shawn Kemp than Tim Duncan, being all for himself rather than SACRIFICING for the team.
Now, I know I haven't watched many Suns games (only during ABC nationally televised or ESPN) and playoffs, so I can't make a definite statement, but that was just SOOOO selfish.

OFF TOPIC: I remember when he KILLED the Spurs during 04-05 season (35 ppg in series) and I thought he would become twice the player Duncan was if he would have added TWO moves in the post. Right now, he has the DUNK and LAYUP in his repetoire that he uses regularly. Imagine what kind of beast he would be if he developed that fade-away bank shot or maybe a regular bankshot along with a running hook (he has used it before, I remember, but not often.)?

Top 25 player in the leaguefor sure, and if defense improves, top 15.

I agree that his first and fifth foul were valid, but not the others. How about when Horry pulled Amare down on one play, yes he got called for the foul but those kind of plays are not called for. I wouldn't be too proud of winning by seven when Nash couldn't buy a basket and Amare barely plays the whole game. Suns beat the Spurs by twenty. It's not decided by the total score in the series, and players are going to have hot and cold games. I'll feel just dandy winning two more games by 1 point each. We'd advance, and you'd go home.

Series isn't over. Suns still have a fair chance of winning.

Read my other posts - Manu call was a bad non-call. Duncan moves/pushes on every screen/roll and never gets whistled for it. That is something I accept - and he does not get held every play, buddy - nice job being a homer.

All I said was on those specific replays they showed where Nash (who rarely gets upset) got really pissed, Bowen had clearly fouled him. When do you see Duncan complaining like so? He doesn't because he knows that he wants the same kind of leeway in contact on the other end. And he also knows that he's respected enough to get to the line.... which he does... and he hit those FTs this game, which was big for him.

Bowen was a lot more physical this game than he was in the first two and Nash had to take a half to adjust. What is so wrong with saying that? They FINALLY called a block on him with 3 mins left in the 4th and you're trying to say that there were way too many non-calls on Duncan? Please, buddy - you're watching the wrong game.... I know when Thomas fouls Duncan and I know when Amare does... I admit they make dumb plays when they try to slap him and they should just let him attempt the shot. It pisses me off that they hit him so much and give the refs a chance to make the calls. This doesn't mean that TD is a saint on the other end. He's pushed Nash in the back on at least 4 layup attempts in this series and you act like that's "normal contact"? Give a little credit jackass.

P.S. Manu was not pushed out of bounds... his momentum/flop carried him out.

What about those 3 different ABC replays which clearly showed Kurt Thomas holding on to Tim Duncan's jersey and shorts and pulling him away from the play and not getting a call?

Yes there were calls that went the Spurs way tonight, I don't think anyone will argue with you on that. But this is the Western Conference Semi-Finals, it's going to get more physical and more compe ive. In the course of a 7 game series, the best team always wins, bad refereeing or no bad refereeing. So quit ing about bad calls and bring something valuable to the table...like maybe how you think the Suns can control Tim Duncan for Game 4...

Suns are a GREAT team and this is a very evenly matched series but the Suns won by 20 mainly because the Spurs laid down in that 2nd half. they were compfortable going home 1-1. I would be a little worried about Tim right now he shredded Thomas and anyone that guarded him tonight, plus Manu has gotten himself into the series.

They didn't even show a replay!!! It happened on the far side of the court with a ton of bodies heading in that direction. There is no conclusive evidence either way that he was pushed or that he flopped!! Give it up that Manu is getting screwed by the refs when he misses a point blank layup and gets a late call because he complains.
So why did you so conclusively said that it was a Manu flop only a few posts ago? And even though I cannot argue with you on this, a Manu flop would not have made him not come back for a defensive play, that would send him to Pop's doghouse immediately.
Fact is both teams got shafted on calls, and I agree the Spurs got a little home cooking, but the margin is not as wide as perceived, the difference is that the announcers were extremely biased in their assessements, amplifying when the Spurs benefits, while keeping their mouth shut when the Suns benefit.
This is the playoffs, the refs decided to let the boys play rough, very rough, and it's not like the Spurs got tonnes of wishy washy calls going their way.

Props to the Spurs team for a game well played.
Props. Although all fan bases, including us Spurs fans (example: game 2 ) routinely whine about officiating, the only bias in officiating in the playoffs is for the team that plays harder.

Wish D'Antoni could be a bit classier about it though

I will accept a little bit of this comment since you obviously know something about being black, Kevin. However, the Suns have cleaned up a lot of their moving screens because they've been flagged for it last year and this year. Duncan doesn't move laterally like the Suns will... he just gives a light shove in the back of the defender to move them out of position against Parker. I'm not being hypocritical at all. I would prefer some conclusive evidence that the Suns are moving on S/Rs while I have provided great detail on how Duncan pulls it off.
    A video > 1000 words.
Check the nba.com/video page, go to Spurs/ Suns game one, the play after the Nash cut. Amare was moving, moving, moving.
Again, every team moves on the screen now and then, I have no problem with that. I have a problem with it when someone alludes that only the Suns are allowed to do it, but the Spurs not.

The Suns got hosed on the calls?

I think Ginobili's black eye, and Tony Parker getting the beat out of him everytime he drove to the hole would disagree with that....

Spurs were lucky to win this game. We make our nine missed freethrows and we win. You aren't going to have Nash shoot that poorly again and with Amare on the bench because of bad foul calls and outrebounding us and your team barely beat us by seven.
And if the Spurs would've made all the shots they missed, and played defense better in the 1st, they would've won by more than 7.

If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts...

    What's your point?

You mean Amare could be as boring as Duncan with a lame bank shot? AWESOME! Amare is a WAY better shooter that Duncan. Watch more basketball. The refs kept him out of the game tonight. Spurs are dirty!
